A. PurposeDCS/APC Advisor assists the Section Manager/Deputy Section Manager in his responsibility for managing a part of activities for DCS related systems, give advices to support all staff during build up procedure as well as oriented instruction in detail during the implementation of work.B. ResponsibilityFor this position, minimum works are as follows,- Provide support services to Technical Division and to advice the less experienced engineer in the divisions.The advisors work very close with the engineering staff to convey their advice to all operating staff.- Investigate plant and equipment trips and provide remedial engineering recommendations.- Maintains and improves the DCS infrastructure, database applications.- Perform calculations and evaluations in the design of equipment and systems for industrial applications.- Participate in planning, cost development and management, and scheduling for assigned projects.- Support activities to ensure that the design conforms to functional specifications, recognized codes and standards, and other requirements.- Communicate with DCS vendors and technical consultants to resolve complex issues concerning new technology and upgrades of DCS.- Provide technical support with regards to instrumentation, DCS, and Package Unit Control Systems.Recommend modifications to improve the performance of field instrumentations and process control.- Review company engineering standards and participate in standards reviews committees. Serve as an advisor for the safety instrumented systems for the refinery.- Develop standards and establish guidelines for preventive, breakdown and predictive maintenance activities.Update the engineering standards as needed in order to ensure that all new equipment is engineered and purchased with the safest and best technology available.- Provide controls engineering services during turnaround activities.- Guide, direct and motivate the less experienced engineers and operators including setting education and training and assessing their performance in association with their superior and the Human Resources Section.
