DESCRIPTION OF ASSIGNMENT:Purpose of Assignment and Scope of work:All assignments shall take place in Jordan, but the photographer may reside outside of Jordan once they are willing and available to travel to Jordan for assignments.Each work assignment shall be discussed in advance with the photographer describing the nature of the job request and timeframe.The photo assignments would include working in black and white, color, and primarily digital photos as requested by the communication section in the Jordan country office.All original materials will be handed over to UNICEF and will remain the property of UNICEF.The photographer(s) must adhere at all times to UNICEFs Ethical Guidelines for Imagery.Photo caption requirementsCaptions must be provided by embedding them directly into each image (in the IPTC fields), together with credit, copyright and other relevant information. Your caption is made up of two or three parts, each composed of one or more complete sentences:? The first part describes the action seen in the photo, and must answer these questions:- Who? Are the names spelled correctly with the correct name on the correct person? Are ages included for minors?- What is in the picture? Describe what is seen in the photo.- When? The date, including the year must appear in the body of all captions.- Where? Be specific. Use village/town/city and province/region.- Why? Explain the circumstances; avoid hyperbole or editorializing. Is it specific? Is it easy to read?2. The second part gives context to the image. This describes why the action, situation or content of the picture is important or interesting. Add value through including personal quotes and relevant character-driven narrative.3. The third part of the caption explains the UNICEF programme or other relation, if relevant.Subject releasesVerbal informed consent is required for all photography. For subjects profiled at length, a signed subject releases in the subjects language is required.Joint credit will be given in all uses to UNICEF/photographers name.KEY DELIVERABLES:High quality original photos and full caption information up to UNICEF specifications, standards and job orders according to delivery dates agreed with UNICEFREPORTING REQUIREMENTS:Photographer supplies all photographic equipment and agrees, if requested, to provide transmissions of rough edit selections of best images with caption information. All photographers/videographers must have a valid license enabling them to perform the work.Image format, transmissions, captioning, etc. to follow terms detailed in UNICEF Digital Format & Transmission Terms.On assignment completion, the images taken with complete captions will be transferred to the UNICEF Jordan Communication Team via cloud or hard drive.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:1. Education: Secondary School Certificate2. Work experience: Preferably minimum of 5 years of professional experience working as a photographer with demonstrated experience in reportage/documentary photography projects in the humanitarian, development and/or media sector is required.3. Technical knowledge: Proven track record in photography and post-production in line with industry standards. Proof of use of photos in publications. Portfolio to be submitted for evaluation.4.
