1. Position Summary StatementThis position must work closely with all network staff to ensure consistent standards are followed and a reliable and secure campus network is maintained. This position has responsibility for a variety of network services that include, but are not limited to; installation and management of core and edge switching, monitor, secure, and test network components, manage devices that authenticate users, secure data, balance network loads, work with a variety of network management tools, troubleshooting network problems, and maintain accurate documentation.2. Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities. 90% maintain a reliable campus-wide network that will support fast, accurate and secure data transmission? Maintain and support network services for TCP/IP Local Area Networks (LANs). This includes services such as DNS, DHCP, internet, VPN connections, etc., QoS, Wireless (WiFi) Infrastructure, Video Infrastructure, cabling infrastructure, vendor relations, f5 load balancer, ? create documentation using Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint and Visio diagramming, IPAM, Python/Powershell/Unix scripting, cloud networking, SDN, Data Center and Edge Switching, conduct change management process and project management methodologies.? Install, maintain, and update tools to monitor the use and the security of the network. ? Work with manager on assessment, analysis, planning, implementation, and management of the network core and building switching and fiber plant.? Design and oversee performance tests, redundancy tests, traffic shaping, load balancing and tuning of the network.? Provide support for internet and related connections, including validation of connection, operation of networking equipment and notification of the campus of outages.? Develop and maintain clear documentation on the installation of network software, network server and switch configurations, etc.? Evaluate and recommend third party software and utilities that enhance the services provided by the campus applications.? Serve as an UTS resource by performing needs assessment, requirement gathering, the development, deployment, and support of application development and frameworks for web, mobile, Campus solutions and Internet & Intranet.? Upgrade system by implementing and maintaining security controls.? Monitor, modify tune, troubleshoot, and report all aspects of systems, for hardware and software support including resource statistics and system security ? Manage enterprise infrastructure to assure maximum availability with minimal outages. ? Serve as a campus resource by performing needs assessments and requirements gathering to assess server needs for campus computing and software implementation projects.? Prepare installation, diagnostic procedures, and participate in training other ITS staff and other related staff. ? Administrate and setup applications and maintain environments for the testing of various solutions. Analyze production implementation, identify and resolve errors, ensure ongoing stability of the environment? Manage the campus server technologies to include network, backup, virtual, and storage systems. ? Evaluate hardware and software products for contractual obligations and compatibility? Provide support for Windows and Apple computers on key network applications. Recommend software configuration to users.? Consult with university faculty, staff and vendors regarding computing solutions and to resolve issues and problems as they occur.? Work with the Lead Network position to design and support network services for TCP/IP Local Area Networks vLANS). This includes services such as DNS, DHCP, and email.? May serve as a team leader of projects to implement new systems, monitor their progress and evaluate the project deliverables. As the team leader, you will work closely with ITS staff and campus stakeholders with the planning and managing of the project.10% 2. Write, review, and coordinate the development of technical documentation and knowledge base materials for internal IT and end-user purposes? Write and maintain technical documentation for end-users on campus supported hardware and software applications. Publish documents to KB [Knowledge Base] and web resources. Update and maintain existing documentation.? Write technical documentation for internal IT staff on problem resolution, practices and other necessary items. Maintain a knowledge base of information and teaches UTS staff to search and locate necessary information. ? Assist in training opportunities.3. Additional duties and responsibilities. Associate or Bachelor?s Degree in information technology, information systems, computer science, academic technologies, training and development, or business. ? At least 5 years of experience in servers and systems support. ? Must have design and implementation experience in MS Azure? Working knowledge of Windows server and Linux operating systems ? Working knowledge of system design, support, ? Knowledge or experience with Active Directory (AD) and Group Policies.? Experience in providing technical and problem solving in Windows and/or MAC environments, and/or customer services ? Ability to effectively multitask, troubleshoot hardware/software and resolve issues in a timely manner, ? Understanding of wired or wireless networking configurations.? Ability to communicate clearly (verbal and written) and have a clear understanding, work ethic, and personality to provide end users understandable, friendly, timely, and quality service and support. ? Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
