Job Description

JOB PURPOSEThe Programme Policy Officer (Livelihood & Value Chain) will report to the Head of Social Safety Nets and Livelihood Sections. This position will support the preparation of WFP Syria Livelihood Strategy 2022-2023 and implementation of a range of integrated livelihood activities.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

  • ??????Support the preparation of WFP Syria Livelihood Strategy 2022-2023 as well as its operationalization ensuring alignment with global WFP guidance;
  • Lead the planning, preparation and implementation of livelihood participatory assessments, including Seasonal Livelihood Programming (SLP) and Community-Based Participatory Planning (CBPP) reports;
  • Review and validate reports, SitReps, and other communication material ensuring consistency of all data and information and timely dissemination to internal and external stakeholders;
  • Support the collection and analysis of data on selected food value chain (e.g. bread) as well as the preparation of final reports;
  • Actively participate and represent WFP in relevant coordination platforms (e.g. Food Security and Agriculture Sector, Early Recovery and Livelihood Sector, Bakery Interagency Working Group, and others as needed);
  • Liaise with other CO Units, WFP Field Offices, as well as external actors (UN agencies, INGOs/NGOs, Government), promoting exchange of knowledge and exploring new areas for potential collaboration;
  • Ensure all livelihood interventions are efficiently documented, lessons are collected, analyzed, and disseminated, and good practices are embedded within the design and implementation of WFP?s programmes
  • Contribute to provide managerial support to staff working within the Livelihood Section as well as direct liaison with Livelihood Focal Points across WFP Field Offices;
  • Undertake research and data analysis to contribute to the provision of accurate information and effective management of resources.
  • Keep abreast of relevant studies, policy and operational issues to ensure WFP Syria Livelihood interventions are fully aligned with broader UN/WFP guidance;
  • Perform other related duties as required.
