Job Description

Job Purpose:The position of Lead Specialist, Government Relation under the direction of the Manager Government Relations is responsible handling out Government Relations activities in a professional, quality and timely manner to ensure all Maaden requirements are achieved without delays. General day-to-day responsibilities include assists in representing and processing the Maaden business requirements with Government agencies for commercial and security matters, obtaining visas and work permits, special licenses, registering Maaden patents and commercial trademarks, etc.Handles and ensures all specialized correspondence and document submissions with such organizations are 100% complete, accurate and proofed prior to submission.Key Accountabilities:

  • Carries out activities related to processing the Maaden business with Government agencies, ministries, departments and offices.
  • Includes applying to Ministry of Labor for special permits to import labor for project operations, work visas for expatriate employees, visitors visas; applying for and securing certificate of exemption from customs duty on material imported for Company operations, etc. Ensures all document submissions with such organizations are 100% complete, accurate and proofed prior to submission. Zero defects!
  • Coordinates with local security forces regarding reporting of security violations and subsequent investigations at Maaden site.
  • Coordinates with Legal department the authentication and registration of Maaden patents and commercial trademarks.
  • Assists in maintaining files of correspondence with Government agencies, embassies and consulates, Company documents, contracts, agreements, etc.
  • Performs other similar or related duties such as drafting routine correspondence, preparing status and activity reports, completing application forms, accompanying employees to Government offices to expedite processing of formalities, etc.
Minimum Qualifications:Bachelors degree in businessMinimum Experience:Min 7 years of progressive experience in government relations work Skills:
  • Effective communication and listening skills.
  • Excellent relationship building skills (internal and external)
  • Strong work ethic and be able to adhere to company, policies, and standard business etiquette.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills in English required,
  • Self-starter with minimal supervision for routine activities.
  • Extensive computer skills in using Microsoft software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) plus other software pertinent to the work performed would be advantageous.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and foster a cooperative team environment.
  • Bi-lingual or multi-lingual is a plus.
  • International work experience in remote camp environment.
