Job Description

About this role:

    • Act as the Company focal point offshore & as required on site, for all project lifting matters including approval of related documents submitted by Contractor
    • Coordinates with MP Lifting SME, OPCO Lifting SME, Company Representative, Contractor and TPIA for Lifting related issues.
    • Ensures all activities are undertaken in compliance with Company QHSES policies, regulations and standards.
    • Assists Project Management with lifting procedures & drawings review and technical support of execution matters.
    • Attends onsite safety meetings and toolbox talks to ensure there is a clear understanding of the activities that are to be performed.
    • Responsible for overseeing Lifting activities executed by Contractor offshore and as required onshore worksites.
    • Provides technical support for the selection and qualification of Lifting Operation contractors / sub-contractors and ensures contractors processes and procedures are effective and meet COMPANY requirements and Qatar government regulations.
    • Promotes best practice within Company, sharing information and ideas with affected organizations.
    • Review and recommend improvements to key practices, procedures and plans ensuring effective and smooth project execution.
    • Attend RAs and identify mitigations and or improvements to lifting operations.
    • Participate in inspection of lifting equipment to be used within project operations including hired and Contractors equipment. Performs surveillance inspection on the Contractors lifting equipment and verifies its condition and validity for continued use.
    • Participates in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) for Lifting Equipment failures.
    • Conducts equipment audits ensuring all relevant certification and audits are up to date and that any close-out actions from audits have been carried out.
    • Ensures that any issues evaluated during HAZID/HIRA processes, or that are raised during safety meetings, are closed prior to the start of work.
    • Stewards in the management of change (MOC) process and is the Company point of contact on the worksite for all site lifting queries.
    • Keeps a detailed log covering Project activities onsite with reference to any specific messages, e-mails or telephone conversations.
    • Develops lessons learned upon Project completion.
    • Works effectively within established procedures or creates and endorses new procedures as necessary to further develop the Project Management philosophy.
    • Works on large capital expenditure projects in a highly dynamic team environment that has tight-deadlines, high pressure and visibility, requiring accuracy, initiative and the ability to multi-task as essential skills.
    • Interfaces with various departments on resolving subject related issues that requires effective communication, initiative, flexibility and an ability to induce collaboration.
    • Undertakes complex lifting tasks and acts as a source of guidance for staff. Is expected to handle all but the most complex problems and difficulties that might arise with regards to any lifting operations.
    • Takes initiatives, based on experienced gained, to deliver safe working operation
What you need to bring:
  1. Minimum of 15 years experience in similar discipline with at least 10 years demonstrated senior field experience in lifting operations, lifting preparation (lift plans), lifting supervision and lifting equipment inspection.
  2. Demonstrate extensive experience in lifting & rigging especially in critical & heavy lifts in offshore Greenfield and Brownfield environment
  3. Valid Certifications issued by Internationally Recognized bodies as Competent Lifting Specialist
  4. Knowledge of different types of lifting equipment/cranes on heavy lift barges (in anchored & DP modes), jack-up barges, land based mobile/fixed cranes.
  5. Inspection of lifting equipment & devices to confirm compliance with Code requirements
  6. Experience in review of lifting engineering for, e.g., load curves, stability of barges, rigging calculations, etc.
  7. Knowledge of International standards such as LOLER, BS, LEEA, DNV and experience in regulatory compliance. Experience within Qatar is added value.
  8. Fluent in English, spoken and written .
