Job Description

  • Ensures 24/7 continuous operation of Coast Station ON MF, HF & VHF channels & all Global Maritime Distress & Safety System (GMDSS) services and ensure reliable service for customers.
  • Ensure that all distress, urgency and safety traffics are handled expeditiously, the weather bulletin, warnings and traffic lists are transmitted as per schedule.
  • Does supervision and training of new employees.
  • Conducts periodic observation of operators in order to ensure that operations standards are met.
  • Reviews applicable regulations regarding radio communications, handles violations and escalate to the
  • manager if needed.
  • Coordinates with the Manager of the Maritime Radio, Technical Supervisors/Officer and Operators regarding
  • operations process.
  • Communicates periodic status report to higher management and escalates any potential risks and issues.
  • Reviews and endorses the Doha Radio Incidents/Distress records in a month to the technical supervisor and
  • highlights records that fall below the target KPI (fraction of Number of incident reports received and closed within the calendar month over the Total Number of Incident Reports received within the same calendar month times 100%).
  • Ensures maritime radio operations resilience, and implement disaster recovery plans.
  • Evaluate commercial requirements, create and innovate solutions and procedures applicable to the maritime
  • radio industry.
  • Operations systems and procedures analyses to provide high quality service.
  • Reviews and finalizes the monthly and annual technical reports submitted by the Lead Assistant Operator and
  • submits it to the Maritime Radio Manager.
  • Provides operational expertise in all critical radio operations situations such as in addressing incidents and
  • distress calls from ships and other stations.
  • Coordinates with technical supervisors on cease operation of the Maritime Radio when troubleshooting
  • Maritime Radio Equipment that requires shut down for health and safety requirement.
  • Monitors operators? skill level and recommend the necessary training and guideline.
  • Reviews the Personal Development Plan and Trainings submitted by operators and endorses them to the
  • manager.
  • Approves annual leave plans submitted by operators and endorses them to the manager.
  • Undertakes any other duties as may be assigned by the Manager of the Maritime Radio Station˙
