Key Responsibilities: Review and analyze medical documentation, including physician notes, lab reports, and patient recordsAssign appropriate ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and other relevant codes based on documented diagnoses and proceduresEnsure coding accuracy and completeness to support proper billing and reimbursementMaintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, regulatory requirements, and payer policiesCollaborate with billing and clinical teams to resolve coding discrepancies and issuesConduct audits of coded records to ensure compliance and improve coding processesMaintain confidentiality and security of patient information in accordance with HIPAA and local lawsKeep detailed records of coding activities and submit reports as requiredParticipate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current on coding updatesQualifications: Certification in Medical Coding (e.g., CPC, CCS, CCS-P, or equivalent)Proven experience in medical coding, preferably in a hospital or clinical settingStrong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and other coding standardsFamiliarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and healthcare proceduresAttention to detail and high level of accuracyGood organizational and time management skillsAbility to interpret medical documentation and clinical notes effectively
