Mechanical Engineer (Roads Operation and Maintenance)

Job Description

About this role:

• Review the plan and program of repair works on the Roads/Tunnels and associated components as submitted by contractors.
• Monitor outsourced agencies work schedules, set priorities, and ensures the appropriate assignment of equipment, materials, and personnel.
• Review technical drawings, schematics, and reports to ascertain the working condition of Roads/Tunnels in the area under supervision and take necessary actions.
• Evaluate the performance of the Road Network /Tunnels using data from maintenance, gauges, instruments, and complaints/interruptions to develop improvement actions.
• Work proactively with the MC and design consultants to identify and resolve any design related issues.
• Ensure that incidents / emergencies reported are attended to and resolved by the maintenance contractors or in-house teams as appropriate.
• Attend to customer complaints as necessary and escalate any solution engineering requirements to the O&M Engineer and Unit Leader as appropriate.
• Conduct the regular visual inspections of the Road Network/Tunnels facilities and submit reports for the area under supervision.
• Assist the project team in ensuring that Roads Network/Tunnels upgrading, and maintenance works are carried out to the specified technical standards and that corrective action is taken as needed.
• Implement the quarterly, annual, and long-term preventative and routine maintenance plans to ensure that the Roads Network/Tunnels perform to the specified level of operations.
• Manage the performance of maintenance contractors to ensure adherence to defined SLAs Work in collaboration with all other Sections and Departments to ensure delivery of the ROMD Departments KPIs through the assigned section/unit.
• Ensure adherence to Health and Safety Policy and Procedures within the section and comply to any new work instructions.
• Perform other duties / tasks as required. Ensure adherence to Quality and Health and Safety in work and other Company procedures and comply to any new work instructions.

• Bachelors degree in electrical engineering or relevant Subject
• Holder of Chartered Membership in relevant discipline (e.g., Engineering) preferred.
• Current/valid Qatar Driving License would be an advantage.
• Minimum of 10 years experience in relevant field including 3years experience in managing contractors.
• Experience of working in a multidisciplinary Organization preferably in the Middle East
• Extensive knowledge of leading practices in road and tunnel design/ approaches/ tools.
• Knowledge and experience in contract management
• Knowledge of Quality, Health and Safety, and Environment policies, procedures, and regulations
• Competent in Microsoft Office Packages
• Ability to deliver and support change.
• Ability to influence and engage stakeholders and staff at all levels within the Organization.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English is mandatory.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in Arabic is preferred.
