Job Description

About this role:

  • Create and manage online tools using spatial data designs and implements spatial databases in SQL
  • Delivery of the most appropriate schedules for asset data updates and cleansing
  • Gather, verify, input and maintain accuracy of spatial data received from a variety of sources such as ROMD staff, contractors and suppliers
  • Undertake site visit for verification of data and field inspection
  • Create new desktop and online GIS software tools for use by GIS staff. Interfaces GIS and other software to construct complex applications.
  • Provide complex and ad-hoc geo-spatial reports
  • Carry out complex spatial and data analysis on gathered data and identify potential trends or issues with data accuracy
  • Create maps which identify location of network infrastructure and assets
  • Interpret as-built drawings, maps, graphs, aerial images, recognize and resolve discrepancies in data and take necessary action to ensure quality of information is accurate and acceptable
  • Provide GIS data to ROMD to inform future planning and operations
  • Prepare reports and maintain files, records and drawings
  • Adhere to Health and Safety policy and procedures and comply with new work instructions
  • Perform other duties/ tasks as required
What you need to bring:
  • Bachelors degree or higher-level qualification in Engineering in a relevant subject.
  • Holder of Accreditation from GIS Institutes and relevant professional body would be an advantage
  • Current/valid Qatar Driving License would be an advantage
  • Minimum of 10 years work experience in a similar position
  • Practical experience in developing SQL scripts to extract data is essential
  • In depth knowledge and experience of web-based GIS solutions, primarily ESRI ArcGIS, ArcGIS Server, and ArcGIS using Microsoft C #.Net, Python or VBA preferred Knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages and in particular Microsoft Excel 2010
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English is essential
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in Arabic is preferred
