GIS Analyst (Roads Operation and Maintenance)

Job Description

About this role:

• Collect, validate, and analyze geospatial data related to the road network, including network infrastructure, catchments, road flow patterns, and assets.
• Collaborate with Engineers to update network schematics, incorporating the latest information on infrastructure
• Prepare maps following a rain event to visualize and analyze the impact of rainfall on the network and flood-prone areas.
• Analyze and visualize rainwater flooding complaints based on the location, severity, and impact on primary, secondary, or local roads.
• Analyze and visualize rainwater flooding complaints within and outside network areas to identify areas where additional infrastructure or maintenance is required.
• Conduct spatial analysis to identify and map potential flood areas and hotspots based on historical data, rainfall patterns, topography, and hydrological modeling.
• Update GIS data for hotspots that are missing or need refinement in the SharePoint site, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information for flood prevention activities.
• Ensure that project boundaries highlighted in mitigation plans submitted by project departments are accurately reflected on the web maps.
• Manage the lidar scanning project to capture high-resolution elevation data and facilitate the availability of lidar data for PWA facilities to support effective operations and maintenance of these facilities.
• Support the FPS team and the Engineering Services Department (ESD) regarding Assets Affairs web mapping issues, ensuring smooth integration and functionality.
• Collaborate with the operations and maintenance teams to identify GIS requirements and develop solutions that support their activities.
• Support the integration of GIS with other systems, such as enterprise asset management and work order systems, to streamline data flow and improve decision-making processes.
• Stay updated on industry best practices and technological advancements in GIS and management and provide recommendations for process improvements to the Engineers.
• Assist in training and mentoring junior GIS staff within the department where required.

• Bachelors degree in Geography, Geomatics, GIS, Civil Engineering, or relevant subject.
• Ability to analyze spatial data, conduct geospatial analysis, and apply spatial statistics to support decision-making.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in data analysis and mapping.
• Holder of Accreditation from GIS Institutes and relevant professional body would be an advantage
• Current/valid Qatar Driving License would be an advantage Holder of current/valid Qatar Driving License
• Minimum of 5 years work experience in a similar position
• Knowledge of asset hierarchy, asset types and related asset attributes, for assets base desirable
• In depth knowledge and experience of web-based GIS solutions, primarily ESRI ArcGIS, ArcGIS Server, and ArcGIS using Microsoft C #.Net, Python or VBA preferred
• Proficient in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS) and related tools for geospatial analysis and mapping
• Experience working with network data collection
• Familiarity with geodatabase management, data modelling, and data integration techniques.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages and in particular Microsoft Excel 2010
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English essential and Arabic would be an advantage
