Job Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB To supervise and control the installation, maintenance both preventive & corrective, and testing / commissioning of a wide range of Low voltage, Medium voltage & High Voltage Electricalequipment in a safe manner, in accordance with client procedures and accepted technical standards. The equipment includes, but not limited to HV & LV Switchgear Panel, Transformers, Earthing System, MCCs, PCCs, HT & LT Motors, various types of Motor starter panels (VFD, Soft Starters , Star - Delta & DOL) of various equipments, Emergency DG set, Alternator, UPS, Lighting Control System, Central Battery System, Building internal / external lighting & Street Lighting, Solar PV system, etc. To remain up to date in the field of Electrical maintenance To provide work directions to his subordinates and ensure that all activity conforms to clientpolicies and procedures. To carry out troubleshooting, investigation, RCA for major / repeated breakdown, any incident. Generate Reports, Daily & monthly, work report for major repairs and incident/accident reports. To carry out risk assessment and Environment Aspect impact of all routine /non- routineactivities and implement control measure to ensure safe working environment. To follow and to ensure that team follows safe work practices always during any activity at site. To ensure to utilize the available resources manpower, materials & logistical resources inoptimize way. Identify areas of process improvement and accordingly recommend proactive measures toensure smooth running of all Electrical equipment.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and EXPERIENCE At least 10 years of varied maintenance and operational experience in the field of Electrical Engineering. He must have hands on experience to maintain advance microprocessor-based control panels; VFDs & must have handled LV & MV electrical installations. He must be familiar with the local KARAHMA, ASHGHAL and QCD standards & regulations. The incumbent must have a minimum of 5 years supervisory experience. An aptitude and experience in HV & LV Switchgears, Motors & Its starter, Transformers is mandatory. Completion of secondary education followed by 4 years Degree in Electrical Engineering is a requirement. Good knowledge of English (both written and understanding of technical manuals) is essential. Must be very familiar with the use of the computer and its applications. Very good interpersonal skills and adaptability to work in a multinational environment. KEY RESULT AREAS - PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Supervises all activities of assigned personnel at the client. Performs supervisory functions at the level established by the management for the position. Receives and reviews incoming work requests for repairs to Electrical and other related equipment. Processes the work requests after filling in the required materials, man hours, and skill levels. Allocates work to subordinates and contractors, checks progress providing instructions and advice as necessary and ensures that all the completed work conforms to established workstandards and statutory requirements. Provides advice related to the planning and commissioning of new projects, which includes liaising with inter discipline engineers within the department, with vendors, consultants, and contractors. He reviews drawings, evaluates systems, drafts scope of work for Plant changes, snags completed projects and generates all relevant work reports. Participates in, and personally carries out the complex installations repairs, maintenance & testing of a wide range of HV & LV Switchgear Panel, Earthing System, MCCs, PCCs, HT & LT Motors, various types of Motor starter panels ( VFD ,Soft Starters , Star - Delta & DOL) of various equipments, Emergency DG set, Alternator, UPS, Lighting Control System, Central Battery System, Building internal / external lighting & Street Lighting, Solar PV system, etc. Makes plan for his team and monitors progress, takes corrective measures for any deviation from plan. Arranges material & logistics as per the plan. Supervise to carry out various types of tests on electrical equipments - like Insulation Resistance test, Polarization Index, Thermography, contact resistance measurement, Winding impedance test, Breaker Function test, Protection Relay testing using primary & secondary injection tests, Live cable scanning, cable fault / route locator, etc. Supervise to carry out various types of diagnostic tests / Condition monitoring tests related to electrical equipments - like Polarization Index, Tan-Delta Tests, Thermography, Vibration Analysis, Power Analyzer etc. Supervise to carry out installation / commissioning / testing activities for electrical equipments which includes -HV & LT Motors & Electrical panel, Transformer, Cable tray, HV & LV cabling,landing work etc. Supervise to carry out installations & checks on earth pit installations & earthing routes in client premises. Supervise and take decisions for maintaining the maximum electrical demand load & the power factor with in specified limits by KARAHMA, ASHGHAL and QCD. Deals with KARAHMA, ASHGHAL and QCD offices to get new electrical work load sanctions, approval for new electrical installations etc. work Provides technical advice to his subordinates and ensures the proper use of tools and test equipment. Carries out function tests on the repairs carried out prior to reinstating the systems. Plans & carry out the routine, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting & root cause analysis. Plans & carry out commissioning activity related to new projects / electrical equipment. Inspects the work of staff, carrying out related on-site work, resolves problems during work, trains subordinates in safe practices and guidelines. Maintains records and files of work performed, in progress, and work completed. Completes and processes paperwork related to his section such as time sheets, material costs, repairs and activity reports. Preparation of annual lists of spare parts, consumable materials and special tools or test equipment. Reviews consumption discusses interchangeability with his supervisor, initiates purchase requisitions for new materials, assists in the receipt of the new material and spare parts through on-site inspection of delivered material. Ensures that optimum stock of material ismaintained to cover all eventualities and material is salvaged and reconditioned wherever possible. Carries out similar or related duties such as issue of Permits to Work, providing authorized safety over rides, ensures that good housekeeping is practiced at all times. Prepares regular work reports - Daily reports, Equipment failure reports, Incident/Accident reports, Monthly reports, staff/contractor appraisal reports, indicating activities carried out, prob lems encountered and produces analysis reports of a technical nature indicating failures and recommendations to alleviate recurring problems. Assists in the development of Plant changes for modification or improvements in the present systems. Reviews or prepares drawings and technical specification for such work. Supervises any in-house project work done by technicians/contractors. Participates in the testing and commissioning of new or modified systems, updates on- site information and drawings andrecords As-built drawings. Ensures that systematic and proper work programs are adhered, to meet the training needs of his subordinates and especially Qatari staff. Identifies additional training needs and providesappropriate feed back to his supervisor. Ensures that all the subordinates and contractors are aware of safe working practices and takes necessary precautions in hazardous work environment. Fulfills all the requirements of the CAFM system. Utilizes the system to maximize availability and reliability of the facilities and minimize operating and maintenance costs. Adheres to ISO accreditation, regulation of the department. Carries out audits and completes action points to conform to ISO 9000 series quality management systems, ISO - 14001, OHSAS - 18000 requirements. Assists the client Electrical Engineer in developing and implementing Operational/Functional and preventive maintenance programs and procedures to ensure operational efficiency.The system / Equipment involved area.
