WFP Sudan, one of the largest and complex operations for?WFP globally,?is currently rolling out its five-year?Country Strategic Plan?(2019-2023), which aims to provide emergency assistance through a hybrid approach (Cash, food and vouchers), along with life-changing types of programmes (Nutrition, Resilience and School Feeding).JOB PURPOSE:To collect, analyse and report on information to maximise efficiency of the logistics operations and activities.?KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)The Logistics Officer will be responsible from the following duties:

  • Participate and contribute to strategic planning, operational and policy discussions on logistics, pipeline resources, commodity management and commodity tracking.
  • Collect, analyze and report on information to maximize efficiency of the logistics operations and activities.
  • Contribute to the annual and periodic logistics procurement and budget plan discussion.
  • Contribute towards the development of logistics plans and processes ensuring compliance with wider logistics policies and WFP standards.
  • Support logistics operations following standard processes and contributing to the effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries.
  • Collect and analyze data through research and networking with colleagues to recommend actions to the supervisor to improve performance of local logistics operations.
  • In accordance with receiving countries call forward, organize convoys from supplier/main hubs to the final destination.
  • Support the cross-border operations, making sure transporters are contracted, are providing trucks and follow WFP instructions.
  • Make sure all the documentations for the convoys are submitted and approved on time.
  • Support field colleagues with all required actions to have smooth movements between the countries.
ADDITIONAL KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Collect and analyze relevant technical data from diverse sources to forecast operational needs under various scenarios and make evidence-based proposals.
  • In collaboration with colleagues, make sure all the requested documentations are ready in the system and allocation plans are shared timely.
  • Follow up to make sure the allocations shared are followed and support in case changes are needed.
  • Collate data and contribute to prepare accurate and timely reporting on convoys, supporting a WFP wide view of logistics activities that enables informed decision making and consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
  • Support logistics operational day-to-day activities following standard processes and contributing to the effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries.
  • Support the local purchases operations, making sure transporters are contracted, are providing trucks and follow WFP instructions.
  • Coordinate with GCMF HQ team to have sales from GCMF project to the buying project performed on time.
  • Coordinate with CO relevant colleagues to ensure the right GCMF documents are used correctly.
  • Support the tracking of cross border stock from the supplier to the Country of destination.
ADDITIONAL KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Implement on-line access reports for WFP Project Officers & senior management. Support and facilitate increased use of LESS information by other operational logistics staff through formal briefing & self-report generation.
  • By liaising closely with WFP Project Officers, ensure accurate and timely on deliveries and stock status information.
  • Using LESS & WINGS data, contribute to disseminate and provide data and support with inputs to Pipeline Reports, Needs & Shortfalls Reports and SPR Annual Reports.
  • Others as required.
