VMWare Virtualization Infrastructure Engineer

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, deploy, and configure VMware virtualization solutions, including vSphere, vCenter, and vSAN.
• Develop and implement virtualization strategies that align with business goals and objectives.
• Plan and execute upgrades, patches, and migrations of the virtual infrastructure.
• Monitor and maintain the health, performance, and capacity of the VMware environment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to virtual machines, hosts, storage, and networking.
• Provide technical support for VMware infrastructure, including after-hours support as needed.
• Optimize the virtual environment for performance, scalability, and efficiency.
• Implement and manage security best practices to protect virtual machines and data.
• Conduct regular security assessments and audits to ensure compliance with organizational policies and standards.
• Work closely with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of virtual infrastructure.
• Document all configurations, procedures, and changes to the VMware environment.
• Provide training and support to IT staff and end-users on virtualization best practices and tools.
• Lead and participate in virtualization projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business requirements.
• Manage project resources, timelines, and deliverables effectively.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and provide technical guidance on virtualization solutions.

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in VMware virtualization technologies.
• Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing VMware environments in a production setting.
• Expertise in VMware vSphere, vCenter, vSAN, and NSX.
• Strong knowledge of server, storage, and network integration within a virtualized environment.
• Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions for virtualized environments.
• Proficiency in scripting and automation tools (PowerCLI, Ansible, etc.) for managing VMware infrastructure.
• Familiarity with monitoring and performance tuning tools for VMware environments.
• VMware Certified Professional (VCP) certification is required. Additional VMware certifications (VCAP, VCDX) are a plus.
• Relevant certifications in other IT areas (Microsoft, Cisco) are advantageous.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Project management skills and experience leading IT infrastructure projects.
