Job Description

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Under minimal direction, Installation, configuration and upgrading of SQL server software and related products
  • Evaluate SQL Server features and SQL Server related products
  • Establish and maintain sound backup and recovery policies and procedures
  • Database design and implementation
  • Implement and maintain database security (create and maintain users
  • and roles, assign privileges)
  • Perform database tuning and performance monitoring
  • Perform application tuning and performance monitoring
  • Setup and maintain documentation and
  • standards
  • Plan growth and changes (capacity planning)
  • Work as part of a team and provide 7x24 support when required
  • Perform general technical trouble shooting and give
  • consultation to development teams
  • Interface with Microsoft for technical support.
  • Patch Management and Version Control
  • High Availability Solution Design
  • Installation and
  • Configuration of high availability databases
  • Basic Operating system management for performance monitoring.
  • Communicating any technical requirements to the team members and
  • work closely with the team to ensure proper delivery of business requirements

Budgets and Plans
  • Assist in preparing & presenting the functions budget and monitor financial performance of the department to provide management with visibility of forecast cost and revenues, areas of underperformance and opportunities to improve.
Safety, Quality & Environment, Facility Management
  • Ensure compliance to all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures, and controls across the section to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, and a responsible environmental attitude.
Continuous Improvement
  • Motivate the team and identify opportunities to take part in change initiatives, programs and projects that reflect international best practices and enhance productivity & profitability.
  • Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of accounting processes and practices, keeping an eye on international best practices, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement.
Policies, Processes & Procedures
  • Recommend improvements to departmental policy and direct the implementation of procedures and controls so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service to customers
  • Coordinate with the Manager to implement improvements to departmental policy and direct the implementation of procedures and controls covering all areas of General Services activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service to customers.
Technical Requirements
  • 6 - 8 years experience in the relevant field
