Position:Capacity Building Specialist - TunisiaLocation:Tunis, TunisiaJob Id:609# of Openings:1*Capacity Building SpecialistDemocracy International (DI) is seeking to hire a Capacity Building Specialist for the anticipated five-year Tunisia Civil Society Activity in Tunisia funded by USAID. The overall goal of this activity is to empower Tunisian citizens to act and advocate for specific issues and effect change at the local, regional, and national level in advancing Tunisia?s development and to build the legitimacy and sustainability of the civil society sector. Interventions will be focused on five to ten thematic areas decided through participatory approach, over the course of the award, that reflect local priorities, political will, and strong potential to make tangible improvements in the daily lives of citizens. This will be a full-time position based in Tunis, Tunisia, and will be contingent on award and funding. This position is only open for citizens of Tunisia. For more information, please read the solicitation .The Capacity Building Specialist will lead programmatic activities of Tunisia Civil Society Activity and will be responsible for achieving results related to building the capacity of civil society. The Capacity Building Specialist will support civil society development through grants, mentoring, and other enabling activities. The Capacity Building Specialist will support the Chief of Party to develop a strong vision and implementation of the Activity using an evidence-based approach. The Capacity Building Specialist will act as a liaison between the Tunisia Civil Society Activity Team and CSOs. The successful candidate must be a development professional with significant international program management experiences, preferably in Tunisia or other countries with similar settings.Essential Job Duties:The position?s responsibilitieswill include:Providing programmatic and technical guidance related to civil society capacity building activities under Tunisia CSO ActivityEnsure effective field coordinationProvide guidance and coordinate support to the programmatic teams and sub-grantees, including identifying and promoting clear communications on issues of programmatic and budget management activities, compliance, monitoring and evaluation, and documentation;Develop regular reports and ongoing activity monitoring consistent with the requirements of DI?s contract with USAID and with internal reporting requirements;Provide technical advice and support to build capacity of local organizations on specific activities;Work in collaboration with internal project teams supporting good governance and civic engagement in Tunisia; andServe as a liaison for finance and administration with USAID and serve in an acting capacity in the absence of the COP.Qualifications:Bachelor?s degree and relevant work experience of 5 years;Deep understanding of the best practices, approaches, and methodology in programming related to civic engagement and civil society capacity building;Experience working with civil society organizations focused on serving the needs of their community, particularly women, youth, persons with disabilities, and other underserved populations;Technical knowledge and experience with civil society capacity building and related support services, and proactive engagement with civil society networks and organizations in the planning and implementation of project activities;Deep appreciation for civil society organizations;Experience working on democracy support, civil society, or other topics relevant to democratic development;Strong interpersonal skills to effectively coordinate with a wide range of stakeholders;Professional fluency in English (both spoken and written) required;This position is open to Tunisian citizens.Reporting:This position reports to the Chief of Party.Application Process:Interested applicants should submit a cover letter and CV.
