Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:˙The Waste Management Engineer will oversee the review of the selected DBO contractors design for the process engineering methods pertinent to Process Design due diligence and Operation and Maintenance (O&M) activities of Waste Management PlantsKey Accountabilities:˙Strategy& Plans

  • Contribute to the development of the functional strategy to ensure vertical alignment and horizontal integration with other interfacing departments.
  • Regularly report to the manager on the operational activities of department, challenges and issues faced, mitigations taken, etc. as required, to keep them informed and updated on the departments activities.
  • Benchmarking of the power system operation industry and leads NOMAC to the best practices in power system operation & Control.
People Management:˙Manage the effective achievement of the teams objectives through setting individual objectives, managing performance, developing the team, and providing formal and informal feedback to maximise overall performance, engagement and motivation.Budget Management:˙Contribute to the preparation of the RO operation budget, manage, and monitor the technical and financial performance against the budget so that areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified, rectified promptly and potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalised upon.Job Management:˙
  • Understanding of the principles of Municipal Waste Management process systems and technologies and their applications is essential (list of desired systems given below):
    • Solid Waste Management
    • Collections and Transportation
    • Composting
    • Materials Recovery Facility
    • Waste Incineration/Energy from Waste
    • Ash treatment and disposal
    • Flue Gas treatment
  • Delivers leadership role in providing technical input to the Operations & Maintenance team ensuring clients process quality, engineering design and safety compliance requirements are met by demonstrating creativity, foresight and mature engineering judgment.
  • Provides comprehensive technical reviews and advice for complex and novel Waste Management process systems.
  • Applies diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices pertinent to various aspects of design, installations and commissioning and plant operations and maintenance.
  • Capable of carrying out root cause analysis RCA and subsequent supervision of systems troubleshooting/Optimization
  • Supervises the work of engineers, technicians and operators on the project(s) including providing technical guidance and reviewing daily works and subsequent results.
