SummarySupervisesoperations of a designated Laboratory of Histology. Ensures that standards ofquality and efficiency are maintained in accordance with policy and objectives.Essential Responsibilities and Duties2. Effectivelymeasures, manages, and reports section productivity and recommends resourceallocation adjustments.3. Effectively incorporates budget process and manages budget allocated to section. Minimizestotal sectional costs and operates within budget constraints. Performs periodiccost analyses to minimize costs per test. 4. Responsiblefor updating and maintaining efficient operation of the Laboratory InformationSystem (LIS) as it pertains to the section.5. Maintains aneffective supply order/inventory system. Ensures that optimum levels ofsupplies are continuously available to provide uninterrupted services. Be fullyfamiliar with and manage lab aspects of all equipment contracts (service,GPPRR, etc.) in assigned section and ensures that vendor and assigned sectionare in compliance with all contractual terms6. Preparesmicroscopic slides from specimens of scrapings, or other exudates, and fixesthem. Stains and mounts slides to preserve specimen and enhance visibility ofcells under the microscope7. Assists departmenthead in developing and recommending new methodologies, evaluating, andrecommending new equipment and participating in research projects. Maintains departmentspolicy and procedures in accordance with established standards8. Develops andmaintains state of the art quality control and quality improvement programswithin the section in accordance with College of American Pathologists (CAP),CBAHI, JCI, and SFDA standards. Participates in and contributes to qualityimprovement activities. Provides quality improvement reports based on qualityimprovement indicators. EducationMastersor Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology is requiredExperience RequiredFour (4) years ofexperience in Histology with Masters or six (6) years withBachelors Degree including two (2) years in a supervisory/Senior position isrequired.Grade 11:Four (4) years as Supervisor, Histology Lab at KFSH&RC. or (Grade 10) related experience is required.Average of annual performance appraisal at least (3.5) for the last four(4) years.One hundred (100) hoursof cumulative continued medical education [CME].Other Requirements(Certificates)
