Social Media SpecialistLocation:Saudi ArabiaJob Purpose:The Social Media Specialist is responsible for managing Twitter channels, and supporting other social channels such as Facebook, Instagram and channels, as needed. On a day-to-day basis, the post holder will create and schedule exciting and eye-catching content for Twitter and Facebook in line with KAUST?s social media strategy and in accordance with the advancement of institution-wide marketing, communications and branding efforts.Major Accountabilities:* Manage and schedule content on KAUST?s Twitter and Facebook channels using Hootsuite * Participate in developing KAUST social media strategy and analyze competing Social Media accounts of benchmarking institutions * Prepare twitter analytics reports and follow current trends. * Manage incoming messages and mentions, and respond appropriately with guidance from Media Relations team or Internal Communications colleagues, where appropriate * Edit, revise and optimize copy and content according to latest best practice, for use/re-use on KAUST?s digital channels * Use analytics and reporting packages to understand how different types of social media content is performing, identify lessons learnt and share feedback * Provide expert advice and crisis management in regard to social media incidents or concerns * Work closely with departments to ensure proper content and messaging executed online is relevant to KAUST strategy and policy * Provide social media information, advice and guidance to colleagues all around the University. * Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of the employee?s knowledge, skills and abilities in the field of his/her position.Person Requirement:Competencies:Technical Skills:* Expert knowledge and practical experience of daily management of a university or other large international organization?s social media channels * Expert knowledge and practical experience of social media analytics and tools, such as Buffer or Hootsuite * Expert knowledge of trends in social media use generally, and in higher education or research communication more specifically * Experience of creating multimedia content for social media via tools such as Lumen5. *Non-Technical Skills:* Experience of managing complex and sensitive matters in public view, including the management of public comments * Ability to manage difficult and sensitive issues with stakeholders, such as coaching stakeholders who may be reluctant to follow guidelines or best practice * Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities * Excellent verbal communication skills in both English and Arabic * Excellent written communication skills to draft error-free content * Tact, diplomacy and discretion * Ability to develop effective relationships with colleagues across the University. Qualifications: Minimum requirement of a Bachelor?s degree ? Masters? degree preferred ? in journalism, communications, marketing or a related discipline Experience: * Minimum: 3?5 years of directly related experience * Preferred: experience working in higher education.
