Snr International Communications OfficerLocation:Saudi Arabia * To lead the proactive development of high-quality science, research and innovation stories from concept to execution for deployment in the international and national media. * To establish strong international and national media networks and partnerships across the relevant sectors and media organization across the science, tech and innovation space. * To bring expert understanding of international and national media relations and the tactics that deliver the most effective high-profile exposure for selected stories and campaigns. * Working closely with the Director and Communications Manager, lead engagement and collaboration with key internal departments at KAUST, including the divisions, research centers, research office, the innovation and economic development department and core labs. * To help maximize the role of external agency support as part of the multi-faceted global branding and communications. * To be a source global and national media expertise and advise the KAUST faculty and other relevant units across the university. * To help deliver ongoing analysis and reporting. * Exceptional Arabic and English writing and editing skills * Finely tuned concept and story development instincts * Excellent stakeholder engagement skills * Well-honed interpersonal skills, able to lead and to work as part of a team as needed * A strong command of social media content and publishing systems and application of social media conventions and strategies * Literacy with digital content development and web publishing sufficient to sell stakeholders on departmental approach, and to effectively direct work with specialist team members * Ability to bring together diverse stakeholders to effectively solve communications challenges * An ability to plan and execute on multiple projects in parallel * A collaborative approach to working as part of a team A minimum of 6 years of experience in a national and international public relations and communications role * Experience working in a communications role in a large, complex organization * Demonstrable writing and editing skills and experience * Experience of orchestrating multi-faceted media campaigns which have engaged mainstream and specialist media in both a national and international context * Proven experience in developing concepts and storyboards for the creation of video and other digital content storytelling * Knowledge of science and science media and a demonstrable interest in tech innovation and related media is highly desirable * Knowledge and experience of media and public relations in the Middle East is desirable * Experience of higher education communications and branding is also desirable
