Senior Economic Planner (Bachelor / Single Status Only)

Job Description

Due to the increased productivity at the Yanbu Industrial City Program on the West Coast of Saudi Arabia, Parsons are looking to employ a Senior Economic PlannerWith the City anticipated to grow rapidly and extensively as part of the Saudi 2030 Vision this role is key to the overall success of the Urban Planning Department and the Program as a whole.Major Activities Performed Will Include

• Undertake a critical review the Royal Commissions Economic Plan and provide economic analysis and recommendations towards developing and implementation a successful base for the city.
• Collect, analyze financial, political and socio-economic data.
• Analyze market trends, calculate and anticipate future growth in GDP, jobs and revenues.
• Able to customize the economic plan and industrial opportunities to maximize GDP growth, jobs and revenues by utilizing the limited industrial area.
• Identify competitors and recommend initiatives to beat them.
• Review the proposed Value Proposition and medium to long-range basis.
• Provide expert industry-investment guidance, based on the current global, regional and future market industry trends in primary and downstream industries.
• Review potential industrial investors proposals for the city and make informed economic recommendations towards their implementation.
• Formulate economic recommendations and policies to resolve various economic challenges.
• Provide expert advice regarding consultation on different economic relationships with investors and related business.
• Develop policy recommendations towards achieving the Royal Commission vision in a regional competitive marketplace.
• Conduct economic analysis of potential primary and downstream cluster opportunities, taking into consideration the Royal Commissions Master Plan objectives, strategic plan and City phasing plans.
• Review and develop economic objectives for social/community and leadership initiatives.
• Coordinate with various stakeholders, tenants and investors in order to obtain the necessary feedback on proposed economic plans and initiatives.
• Attend conferences, meetings and industry events to promote the Royal Commission, contribute to industry publications.

We are seeking applicants with the following qualifications / experience / credentials:

• A Bachelors Degree in Economics or related field.
• Professional Membership of a recognized Economics related organization preferred.
• Minimum 8 years economic planning related experience.
• Strong industrial background.
• Consulting background with regional Middle East experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Saudi government organizations and current Kingdom level initiatives and policy is preferable.
• Expert knowledge and experience in conducting detailed economic studies and preparing reports related to economic planning.
• Expert knowledge of global and regional economic trends and their application.
• Expert knowledge of economic stimulators/incentives etc. as tools to attract and create targeted industries in a competitive regional context.
• Excellent analytical skills and a client focused approach to problem solving
