Senior Drainage Design Engineer

Job Description

The designated Senior Drainage Engineer will be directly reporting to the Engineering Manager Water and will be responsible for design and technical delivery of the Surface Drainage Supply System. His role will involve managing the surface drainage design aspects and coordination with the internal discipline Senior Engineers, Engineers, Draftsmen and CAD/GIS team members. This includes interfacing with the other Discipline Managers/Leads and the Senior Engineers in other disciplines.The Senior Drainage Engineer will apply all design management systems and documents set up by the Engineering Manager, and ensure technical staff are managed according to their roles and responsibilities assigned by the Engineering Manager. He will be responsible for successful delivery of the assigned Surface Drainage system from concept design to final implementation including quality, time, cost and technical alignment with client sectors and procedures.Key Responsibilities

• Provide management and governance of the assigned sub-discipline/SOW
• Provide oversight and governance to resolve technical issues and ensure project product is of high quality
• Undertake technical problem solving and guide technical team of Engineers
• Source, build and maintain strong and effective internal project coordination and design delivery
• Ensure interfaces with technical team members are managed in a proactive and timely manner
• Ensure design submissions are of high quality through technical guidance, review and peer review actions
• Provide leadership to sub-discipline senior engineers and employees on the project to ensure project team technical and staff cohesion, design excellence and integration, optimal performance, and professional development

• Bachelors Degree in related engineering discipline with a focus in Water Resources.
• Possesses at least 10 years of relevant experience
• Familiarity with the concepts of professional water resources engineering work
• Familiarity with relevant environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
• Experience of drainage design software ideally Microdrainage and/or InfoWorks
• Experience of Drainage design on infrastructure projects
• Experience of creating surface water and foul water management plans and strategies including SuDS design
• Experience of working with Highway and drainage technical standards
• Experience of coordinating and managing modelling studies and flood risk projects
• Awareness of project programmes and critical path, change management, quality assurance
• Good communication and workload management skills
