Senior Design Manager - Technical Team

The opportunityProject: This is an opportunity to work on one of the largest programmes in Saudi Arabia. This unique project consists of major mixed-use development including sports facilities, entertainment, and arts along with all associated infrastructure. Mace is one of the delivery partners requiring high-calibre and experienced professionals to lead integrated teams throughout each phase of the project. Your responsibilities will include:

• Working directly with the project technical lead to develop design management processes, procedures, and templates for delivery covering RIBA Design Stages 3-4 and Supervision Stages 5-6, in addition to writing comprehensive design scopes for lead design consultants for major project RFPs.
• Developing design scopes and able to work with the planning team to coordinate key delivery dates and periods in addition to working with the commercial team to agree on fee matrices and proposed payment schedules.
• Working knowledge of the different scope requirements for all procurement routes, typically traditional, design and build, and management contracting.
• Coordinating with existing masterplan/concept designers and client stakeholders to develop the project brief for RIBA Stage 3 and beyond.
• Reporting skills are a must and able to provide input to the monthly progress reports related to the procurement of designers.
• Understanding the FIDIC white book professional services agreement is preferred but not necessary.
• Understanding the NEC 4 PSA would be a benefit.
• Possessing design management experience and good interpersonal and communication skills as the role will change over time to that of traditional design management with the option of working on any number of building asset types at any stage of the design and construction process.
