Job SummaryThe Lead Estimator is responsible to generate and manage construction cost estimates, valuation of engineering work and budgets. Provide estimates, budget control and studies for projects and potential projects during business development, pre-construction and construction phases of a project and across all scopes, systems, and assemblies.Job Responsibilities 1Ensures efficient relationship with suppliers and sub-contractors to obtain competitive pricing information to use in estimating.Leads the development of schematic cost model estimates utilizing historic benchmarking information and industry experience to develop detailed cost estimate forecasting.Reviews tender documentation and identifies ambiguities, risks and key issues to be considered by the tender team.Prepares sound, consistent data for profitable tendering (estimate of man hours, equipment, subcontractors and material costs).Reviews tender documentation and identifies ambiguities, risks and key issues to be considered by the tender team.Prepares cost reconciliation between two or more estimates, and can explain variance cost drivers.Handles inquiries and provides information related to tendering and estimating.Job Responsibilities 2Analyzes drawing, specifications and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates.Supports and assists the Estimation Manager in the process of quantity take-offs, both manually and digitally, from tender documents and drawings.Coordinates with the client on all changes in scope, questions or clarifications regarding the work, during the bidding process.Conducts site inspection for tender understanding, analysis of conditions and assessment of risk and identification of activities that may or may not be shown in tender documents.Reviews budget and project profitability status and goals with supervision and project team as required. Seeks input on corrective measures to continuously improve the identification and accuracy of cost figures.Liaises with the Engineering Team on the design element of design & construct tenders and providing temporary works support for tenders.Undertakes comprehensive reviews of Contractor?s estimate submissions, change requests and bids including pricing clarifications, assumptions, terms and conditions.
