SummaryProvides technologyexpertise to a sub-section/unit functionof a laboratory. Performs the duties of a Medical Technologist.Essential Responsibilities and Duties1. Assistsin-depth in the development of new methodologies and the evaluation of new equipment.2. Provides guidance and training in performing and troubleshooting more complex procedures.3. Obtains and processes laboratory specimens.Performsanalyses,tests,andproceduresand maintains records as per established KFSH Medical Laboratory standards. Operates, maintains and troubleshootslaboratory equipment.4. Organizes daily work congruent with schedules and work patterns of the subsection/section. Assists Section Supervisor in the appropriate dissemination of information in inter-shift, intersectional and departmental communication. Ensures that optimum level of supplies is available to provide uninterrupted services assists in ordering supplies and maintains the supply inventorysystem. Operates within cost effective practices of section.5. Develops teaching materials and periodically updates these for training and teaching, medical technologist, students and residents.6. Updates policy and procedure manuals in accordance with specified guidelines.7. Ensures and implements proper quality control and procedures. Participates in the Department/Unit specific and Hospital wide quality improvement plan preferred.8. Maintains appropriate laboratory safety procedures and practices.9. Performs technical duties as assigned including weekends, night-shifts, and on call coverage. 10. Follows all Hospital related policies and procedures.11. Participates in self and others education, Training and Development, as applicable.EducationMasters or Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology is required.Experience RequiredGrade 9:Two (2) years of related experience with Masters or four (4) years with Bachelors Degree is required.Grade 10:.Four (4)years as Laboratory Technology Specialist II at KFSH&RC..Average of annual performance appraisal at least (3.5) for the last four (4) years..One hundred (100) hours of cumulative continued medical education [CME].Other Requirements(Certificates).Current Registration from country of origin and Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) is required..Registration in MT(ASCP), CLS(NCA), or equivalent specialist for American, or (ART) or (RT) for Canadian, FIMLS, or AIMLS for UKor NZIMLT for New Zealand, MSMLT for Malaysian.
