Job Description

Key Accountability Areas:Infrastructure and Operations Management

  • Introduce Initiatives, differentiating infrastructure and operations capabilities that enhance our overall competitive capabilities and enhance employee productivity.
  • Manage the infrastructure to support business operations and the operational processes necessary to keep applications and infrastructure reliable and available, this includes network infrastructure, server and device management, end-user productivity tools, application hosting and the support or service desk.
  • Direct the design, installation and connectivity of computer systems and network infrastructure to ensure the stable operation of the enterprises IT assets, this includes developing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all new and existing network hardware, software, and communication links.
  • Manage the data centers and ensures that all data center equipment is fully functional and responds to users needs.
  • Develop and maintain computer networks within or between enterprises, ensure the integrity of high availability network infrastructure to provide maximum performance.
  • Control the access to information and resources within a computer network, based on their roles and circumstances, ensure a high security measurement applied.
  • Review the support operations that deliver capabilities to ensure continuity of operations and includes help desk, provisioning of users and their devices and office productivity aides, disaster recovery and maintain high-availability systems.
  • Grant the end users with information and support related to enterprise technologies and tools by troubleshooting problems and providing guidance about technology assets.
  • Work with the ITOT senior leadership team on the service portfolio and governance required to prioritize resources, including budget.
  • Build successful stakeholder relationships with other ITOT and business leaders by developing a clear understanding of business needs, acting as a trusted advisor.
  • Collaborate with the Cybersecurity department to ensure I&O embrace and apply security strategy.
  • Operate a formal governance mechanism to establish and monitor effective controls for the processes and functions performed by I&O teams, and supports periodic reviews by internal audit, compliance teams and other risk-related functions as required.
  • Drive the adoption of (and commitment towards) service improvements.
  • Monitors outsource function and performance within ITOT to ensure systematic control and compliance of SANS policies and regulations.
Planning and Strategy
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of the departments strategy and roadmap by providing function-specific inputs.
  • Establish and implement the functions operational plans in support of the departments overall strategic plan and KPIs.
  • Monitor departments progress periodically, assess progress of key projects/initiatives and guide team to resolve issues/challenges in achieving the planned objectives.
Budget
  • Participate in departments annual budgeting cycle and process
  • Contribute to utilizing departments budget effectively, and report accurately on progress made and challenges encountered.
  • Investigate and propose implementing strategies that result in positive financial impact for the directorate / department and mitigate financial and operational risks.
Policies, Processes and Procedures
  • Manage the development and implementation of departments policies / controls covering all areas of activity so that all relevant procedural / legislative requirements are fulfilled.
  • Manage departments activities to ensure compliance with stipulated policies and procedures.
  • Lead the management of change through continuous improvement of departments systems and processes taking into account leading practices, changes in technology, business environment, etc.
People Management
  • Manage, guide, and assist direct reports to perform their functional operations.
  • Participate in identifying and recruiting key talent for the department.
  • Promote a high-performance working environment embracing SANSs values.
Qualifications and Requirements:Knowledge And Experience
  • 9 12 years of experience in Information Technology with at least 4 years of experience in a managerial position.
Education and Certificates
  • A Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent is required.
  • A Masters degree in Computer Science/Business Administration or equivalent is preferred.
