The technician will work on diesel, gas, or natural gas-powered generators for residential, commercial, or industrial applications, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.⸻Key Responsibilities:• Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel, gasoline, or natural gas-powered generator systems.• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on generators and associated equipment.• Test and calibrate generators using load banks, meters, and diagnostic tools.• Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues in engines, alternators, and control systems.• Replace or repair faulty components including filters, belts, wiring, circuit breakers, and more.• Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repair work using service reports or CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).• Install new generator units, including wiring and setup of automatic transfer switches (ATS).• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, emissions standards, and manufacturer’s specifications.• Respond to emergency service calls and provide technical support to clients when required.• Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean and organized work area.Qualifications:• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in mechanical/electrical technology preferred.• Proven experience as a generator technician or diesel mechanic.• Strong understanding of internal combustion engines, electrical systems, and power generation principles.• Proficient with diagnostic tools and load testing equipment.• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics.• Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., NFPA, OSHA, EPA).• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.• Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various environments.Preferred Skills:• Certifications from manufacturers (e.g., Cummins, Generac, Kohler, CAT) are a plus.• Knowledge of automatic transfer switches and power management systems.• Welding or fabrication experience is an advantage.• Strong problem-solving, communication, and time-management skills.
