Job Description

SummaryCost Controller is responsible for controlling the project costs; this includes planning, developing, controlling, and forecasting the projects budget. Evaluating projects and conducting project cost/ benefit analysis. The cost control engineer will be based in the head office and visit the site during the construction project as required to liaise/coordinate the cost-related matters with the site team.Responsibilities:

  • Extract materials, manpower, machinery, tools, equipment, and subcontractors? budget from awarded projects tender documents.
  • Responsible to control and monitor project total expenditure including verifying and checking invoices and claims from suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure that all project expenditures are captured and properly recorded. Evaluating projects and conducting project cost/ benefit analysis.
  • Planning, directing, budgeting, scheduling, monitoring, controlling & reporting different projects.
  • Provide planning and cost controlling support for all projects which includes variation reporting, monitoring of milestone progress to the preparation of customer billing processes, etc.
  • Ensure reconciliation on a weekly and monthly basis between project cost reports and Accounting Department cost and billing information
  • Set up work breakdown and project coding structures.
  • Review cost commitment and expenditure information for all cost elements, for input to the computerized cost control and reporting system on a consistent basis and ensure that all information received is accurate and correctly input.
  • Assist in developing and managing the project budget in consultation with Project Team.
  • Analyze variance in cost and schedule and recommend corrective actions.
  • Recommend solution and recovery plans to address schedule and cost impacts.
  • Prepare documentation to support scope changes in relation to budget, estimate, and forecast.
  • Provide accurate and timely financial cost status reports including maintaining cash.
  • WBS Cost allocation and Cash flow projection & relevant monitoring.
  • The cost controller will be involved with the procurement department in terms of subcontract payment terms prior to RFQ Floating considering Main Contract terms and additional role during the PO approval process.
  • Undertaking preparation and approval of Cost impact of any possible extension of time.
  • The Cost Controller will be involved with tendering process, especially in contractual & payment terms aspects to secure project cash flow and to ensure optimum cost allocation and breakdown.
