Conservation Breeding and Reintroduction Director** * Jobs | Senior * AlUla, Saudi Arabia* Posted 8 hours ago*OverviewJob Purpose:Lead and direct the development of the strategy and implementation of all programs and activities for breeding in captivity and, working with the Nature Reserves Team, the reintroduction of all targeted species in order to conserve, maintain, protect and produce healthy populations of wildlife in AlUla County.Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesFunctional Responsibilities1- Oversee the development of the vision, objectives, strategies, plans, and action plans related to the various operations of captive breeding and reintroduction 2- Oversee the development of the policies and standards related to the various activities of the breeding in captivity and reintroduction, and monitor their proper implementation. 3- Provide professional guidance and assistance to determine and execute suitable methods and procedures of the re-population of the Arabian Leopard and other target species in order to maintain, secure, protect, and produce a healthy populations 4-Have overall responsibility for the management, improvement and development of the breeding center at Taif and the proposed AlUla Breeding Centre. 5- Monitor all operative activities related to the captive breeding programs including the registration in relevant studbooks, care activities, health conditions, maintaining a suitable surrounding environment, and recording the various characteristics. 6- Provide approval to the selection of biologist, ecologists, veterinarian, speakers, content experts, facilitators, photographers, and different community groups that will participate in the conservation initiatives. 7- Oversee the development, designing, and providing of the activities, programmes, and projects that promote and enhance the welfare conditions and level with consideration for all aspects of animal well-being in the nature sites in AlUla County. 8- Oversee all the operations and activities related to the wildlife health conditions including diagnosing, researching medical conditions, and providing veterinary medical services, as well as provide the required assistance to enhance the quality of wildlife 9- Provide the professional guidance to use a new practices, procedures and methods to improve the breeding in captivity activities and deal with the various animals species effectively with a view to promote the quality and welfare of their lives in AlUla 10- Provide the professional recommendations and advice to manage the various breeding in captivity activities and operations effectively in conjunction with other interests of RCU. 11- Establish, promote and monitor strong relationships with national and international parties, stakeholders, scientists, and biologists to develop and improve breeding in captivity best practices. 12- Oversee viewing and adopting the suitable international leading best practices related to the various breeding in captivity and animals welfare activities and procedures. 13- Review and approve the reports and documents related to all operations, achievements, threats, and any issues of the breeding in captivity activities, as well as provide the professional recommendations and suggestions. 14- Perform any other job-related duties as required by the direct manager.Managerial Responsibilities1- Provide input to the sectors strategy from the Departments or Sections perspective in line with RCU overall vision and mission. 2- Develop the Departments or Sections objectives, KPIs, annual operational plans and ensure plan execution is meeting the targets. 3- Contribute to the preparation of the Departments or Sections annual budget and monitor the financial performance of the Department or Section. 4- Implement and execute the Departments or Sections policies and procedures. Oversee the overall performance of the section and ensure KPIs are well developed, cascaded, communicated and monitored. 5- Ensure effective staffing, professional development and deployment of staff of the Department or Section in consultation with the Sector Executive or (Executive) Director.Job RequirementsAcademic QualificationsBachelors Degree in a subject related to Biodiversity Conservation and Natural Resource Management, Ideally a post-graduate qualification in a relevant subject (Masters Degree preferred)Work Experience10 years of relevant experience with 5 years in a managerial roleOther Requirements Written and Oral proficiency of English language. Excellent communication skills.
