  • The Associate Director of Accessibility and Tourism Services has primary strategic responsibility for managing the day-to-day responsibilities associated with Red Sea Global s (RSG) commitment to accessible tourism and the implementation of ISO 21902 standards. Providing access and support for teams responsible for delivering and operating RSGs destinations to ensure that visitors with disabilities and mobility challenges have a welcoming and inclusive experience.
  • The Associate Director leads the ISO 21902 certification preparation and enforcement of requirements that include the review and recommendations to improve and implement Functional Requirements for Built Environment Mobility & Transport Guest journey & Tourist Routes Experiential & Leisure Activities MICE & Events Accommodation F&B supporting the DMC & DMO.
  • The Associate Director will be responsible for identifying, developing, and maintaining new staff-focused training programs related to access and disability and offers consultative support for other aspects of accessibility such as the physical, digital and event accessibility of each destination.
  • The Associate Director will provide consultation, advice and training about disability issues, inclusivity, and advocate for accessibility improvements across all destinations and with all hospitality, retail and hotel partners. This will include participation in standing committees and individual departmental training and the design and implementation of services that make events and experiences more accessible to people with disabilities within each of RSGs destinations.
Job Responsibilities
  • Meet with stakeholders to identify gaps and barriers to full compliance with the ISO 21902 standard and determine appropriate recommendations.
  • Work closely with the design, architecture, and master planning teams to ensure the mobility, signage and wayfinding, access, lighting considerations have been implemented into each assets scheme and area program
  • Develop accessibility, inclusion, and disability awareness guidelines for stakeholders, partners, and staff, promoting enhanced disability inclusion, community awareness and retention for staff with disabilities
  • Collate and prepare a comprehensive appraisal on assets, guest journeys and leisure experiences to ensure that accessibility has been considered and implemented
  • Constantly monitor innovation, research and development opportunities and best in class practices in the accessible tourism industry
  • Work with Risk and Compliance team to ensure the efficient annual audit of RSGs tourism assets and experiences.
  • Support Destination Marketing team in the creation and delivery of an effective and accurate communications strategy.
Job Requirements - Qualification and Experience:
  • Masters degree in special education, hospitality management, tourism destination development.
  • 6-8 years of experience in respective field
  • Prior experience supervising staff and overseeing learning, development, and training.
  • Knowledge of models of disability and inclusive design and their application to tourism and the development of tourism products and experiences.
  • Knowledge of the application of national and international accessible tourism standards that provide for an accessible higher tourism experience.
  • Research and strategy development
  • Experience in accessibility and disability services
Skills:
  • English written and spoken. (Arabic spoken skills preferred)
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office and Power Point
  • Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills.
  • Excellent numeracy skills, attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
