Job Description

About the roleThe Graduate Consultant will work in a busy environmental and sustainability consultancy team serving a range of sectors including advisory, energy, water, transport and built environment. Work is varied, providing all types of environmental and sustainability services including environmental, social impact assessment (ESIA), environmental due diligence, permitting, environmental management, carbon management, waste management, sustainability strategy development, and sustainability certification to clients across the Middle East and South Asia region and travel may be required.This role will require consultancy support on two fronts: (i) environment and (ii) sustainability.Key Responsibilities:General

  • Delivery of projects and contracts within the environment and sustainability business to the requirements of the contract and to client expectations
  • Support preparation of consultancy reports
  • Communications with technical consultants regarding report inputs/approval prior to issue
  • Support liaison with clients and attend project meetings
  • Business development including supporting preparation of proposals, tenders and tracking active proposals
  • Preparation of presentations, capability statements, awareness raising bulletins
  • Support project managers in project controls, project progress tracking, and project monthly reporting
  • Review of environmental and sustainability aspects of multi-disciplinary projects
  • Provide support to the environment and sustainability practice leads to deliver the practice strategy
Environmental ConsultancyThis is a varied and interesting role. With the projects that you work on, you will have the responsibility of assessing the impacts of projects on the environment while ensuring that they comply with local (national) and international environmental standards and guidance. Key responsibilities may include:
  • Providing support on environmental and social impact assessments and preparation of reports for a wide range of projects
  • Assisting with site and/or desk based environmental and social due diligence audits and report preparation
  • Development of construction and operational environmental management and monitoring plans with appropriate support
  • Providing support to the team in preparation of proposals
  • Contributing to ad-hoc environmental projects
Sustainability Consultancy
  • Sustainability assessments of buildings assisting with sustainability assessment and certification schemes such as LEED, Estidama, GSAS, Al Safat, CEEQUAL and other assessments (supported by in-house training) and undertaking training to become a qualified assessor
  • Building energy modelling assisting with modelling of domestic and/or non-domestic buildings (supported by in-house training)
  • Development of sustainability strategies for specific organisations and projects
  • Contributing to a wide range of projects as the workload dictates, including supporting carbon management and climate resilience projects
  • Assisting in the development of Mott MacDonalds internal sustainability initiatives to drive improvement in Mott MacDonalds regional sustainability performance with regards to our operations, corporate culture, and the services we offer
Candidate Specification
  • Minimum degree qualified in a relevant engineering/environmental/sustainability discipline membership of a professional institution would be advantageous.
  • Experience post qualification in a similar capacity is preferred.
