Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: Supervisestechnicians as they perform high-voltage (415 volt to 11 kV) electrical workinvolving the installation, operation, maintenance, repair and testing of highvoltage electrical power generation and distribution systems to includefacilities and related systems, transformers, generators, switchgears, meteringand control systems, equipment, machinery and power appliances to withinacceptable national (NEC) and local (MEW) codes, safety rules and electricalstandards. Ensures personnel exhibit superiorworkmanship and focus on a quality end product. Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure all tasks areaccomplished safely and with a focus on a quality product. Verifies actual hours worked by personnel againstwork performed to reduce manpower expenditure. Ensures personnel complete all tasks in accordance with the localEnvironmental, Safety and Health directives. Provides leadership and mentors junior personnel to develop appropriateskillsets. Addresses customer concernsin a prompt, professional and courteous manner. Uses provided Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to correctlyinput data related to maintenance work orders, preventative maintenanceinspections, and emergency/urgent customer requests. Ensures personnel correctly capture data onmaintenance work order requests and preventative maintenance inspection formsfor upload into Maximo. MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES: 1. Accountable for, and ensures a safe and effectiveoperation of the power plant facility 2. Establishes a proactive maintenance program permanufacturer s recommendations, NEC and Technical Exhibit specifications inorder to eliminate unscheduled outages 3. Usesa Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) database to track workorders, request material and update work order statuses as needed 4. Analyzes equipment data and trends; along with teammembers input, formulates maintenance program procedures 5. Leads job and safety analysis meetings with teammembers discussing potential hazards and near-miss incidents 6. Coordinates the installation, maintenance andrepair of all electrical, generator, transformer, switchgear, power grid, substationand load center equipment 7. Prepares estimates of time, labor and material requirementsfor various projects 8. Develops plans, prepares and execute schedules forpreventative maintenance and routine testing of high-voltage distributionsystem components 9. Serves as the subject matter expert, works withtechnicians as they test circuits, power grids, transformers, switchgear andcontrols demonstrating the proper use of meters, high-voltage testers, meggersand similar testing equipment to measure the integrity of electrical componentsand detect faults, hazards and the need for adjustments, relocation and orreplacement 10. Implements and monitors lock-out and tag-out procedures 11. Performs other duties as assigned. MATERIAL & EQUIPMENTDIRECTLY USED: 1. Abasic set of hand and power tools used on the job 2. Testsets and other generator/power plant maintenance related tools/equipment 3. Breakers, transformers, RTS or protest relay testing, oil testing,infrared scanning, automatic transfer switching, performing start-up onswitchgear up through 500kV class, VFD (variable frequency drives). 4. Repairparts used on various types and sizes of generators WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Dutieswill involve the conduct of work in the outdoors with a potential exposure toextreme climatic conditions including frequent dust storms, and hightemperatures up to 130F degrees in the summer months. Potential exposure to chemical or biological agentscould exist. Employee use of PersonalProtective Equipment (PPE) in certain areas is required. PPE includes but is not limited to head,foot, hand, torso, respiratory, vision and hearing protective devices. Normal work week is 48 hours, but must beable to work overtime or shift work as required PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: Physical requirements include lifting,climbing, extended sitting or standing, or other physical efforts that arenormally required.
