Job Description

Action Against Hunger (ACF)˙is an international non-governmental organization working in more than 40 countries in the fields of nutrition, food security and livelihoods, water sanitation and hygiene, and care practices. ACF is looking for its program in Jordan for˙two FSL Officers, one Located in Irbid and one located in Mafraq.Workplace:˙Irbid and Mafraq, with movements to other Action Against Hunger sites in Irbid, Mafraq, and Zarqa governoratesPosition Overview:˙Action Against Hunger (ACF) is a leading humanitarian agency working to combat hunger, malnutrition, and its determinants in over 45 countries worldwide. 12 years into the Syrian crisis, Jordan remains host to 1.36 million Syrian refugees (83% of whom live among host communities), in addition to over 90,000 refugees largely from Iraq, Yemen, Somalia, and Sudan.Working in Jordan since 2013, ACF has focused its response on WASH, Food Security, and Livelihoods, and MHPSS programming for refugees and vulnerable Jordanians, both in camps and host communities. ACFs 2020-25 country strategy aims to strengthen the resilience of vulnerable people to socio-economic and environmental challenges in Jordan with an emphasis on rural and peri-urban women and youth.˙As of 2023, Action Against Hunger has operations across Amman, Irbid, Mafraq, Zarqa, and Madaba with over 70 staff.The FSL Officer is responsible for the coordination within the program operations, enabling effective teamwork and delivering essential support to ensure the successful execution of community-level activities. In addition, overseeing the administrative work of the team, which includes timesheets, leave requests, and performance evaluations.˙˙Responsibilities:1) Assist in˙implementing, monitoring and reporting the activities of the project:

  • Assists in planning, supervising, monitoring and reporting the implementation of the various projects? activities using Action Against Hunger tools
  • Ensure implementation of project activities such as defined by the Program proposal
  • Organize, lead, supervise and report on the project field activities (trainings, distributions, data collection, monitoring, mobilization of beneficiaries, etc.)
  • Assists in ensuring efficient coordination between the project staff
  • Prepares action plans, and regularly follows up activities
  • Contributes to identifying project needs and costs and preparation of price list
  • Check the quantity and the quality of procured items with Logistics Department and inform the PM accordingly
  • Responsible for archiving project documents according to the Action Against Hunger format
  • Assist in developing monitoring tools for implementation in the field
  • Take lead to resolve development amongst beneficiaries to ensure their active participation in the project activities
  • Supervise field assessments (e.g. surveys, etc.) in conjunction with the MEAL Department
  • Responsible for the implementation in the working sites of the safety measures/rules for both Action Against Hunger teams and the populations/public
  • Implements transparency and accountability measures for the project beneficiaries, by including them throughout the project cycle
  • Receive regular reports from the team and maintains a thorough knowledge of all field activities
  • Ensure that databases and data analysis as well as activity indicators are followed up and harmonized
  • Ensure a continuous evaluation of methods and follow-up of projects, and propose improvements
  • Participate in the analysis and drafting of activity reports and the evaluation of those responsible for projects
  • Ensure capitalization of programmers documentation (including assessment reports, methodology, beneficiary selection and list, distribution reports, etc)
  • Evaluate and up-date project needs (HR, financing, logistics);
  • Apply the project?s follow-up and supervision tools;
  • Identify and inform the line Manager (FSL DPM) of any problems or constraints;
  • Follow the project?s progress and write relevant reports;
  • Propose solutions or improvements for the smooth running of the project;
  • Coordinate activities and sensitize local partners in the field
  • Coordinate with the other Team Leaders and his/her team
  • Perform duties assigned by the line Manager
2) Ensure Action Against Hunger local representation, and ensure internal and external coordination within the intervention area
  • Support in coordinating Action Against Hunger?s actions with other stakeholders working in the intervention area.
  • Ensure communication between the coordination and the food security team;
  • Represent Action Against Hunger in external meetings or events as delegated by the line manager or in his/her absence.
  • Promote partnerships with local NGOs
  • Participate in internal and external coordination meetings (ensure minutes of meetings when necessary);
  • Ensure the reporting to authorities or external partners when necessary
  • Propose new project directions.
3) Manage project field team_ Family mentors and daily workers
  • Elaborate, lead and supervise the team?s work schedule
  • Ensure technical support to the team.
  • Take part actively in the recruitment and the training process.
  • Assist l ine manager in evaluating (performance appraisal) the ˙Family mentors? team.
  • Identify gaps in capacity of the team, and develop specific training sessions with the ˙line manager.
  • Deliver internal training to a high standard.
  • Monitors team attendance, punctuality and work performance and takes corrective action including disciplinary action if required.
  • Assist in implementing training courses;
  • Explain and ensure the application of food security methodologies
  • Contribute to develop training material
  • Train the team members˙and beneficiaries
  • Organize the work of the team to optimize the capacity of each team member.
4)˙Ensure adherence to Action against Hunger gender requirements
  • Commit and comply with the organization gender, age and diversity principles & policies (working with people, communication)
  • Support on the implementation and the promotion of gender, age and diversity principles through daily activities and or through the management of their teams (Managing performance & development)
