Job PurposeThe position holder will be responsible for identifying and implementing software solutions to optimize business operations. The role of application manager will include several important responsibilities, including researching and procuring software applications, installation, configuration, and maintenance of software applications, establishing protocols for software applications, overseeing upgrades, and reporting on the progress of operational issues.Key Responsibilitiesú Analyzing business operations and the businesss computer systems and determining which software applications could improve efficiency.ú Managing an application portfolio and associated projects.ú Identifying opportunities for application optimization, redesign, or process improvement - focused on collaboration systems and internal tools.ú Providing application administrative support across applications as needed.ú Making recommendations on whether to upgrade the existing systems or install new ones.ú Leading teams of IT specialists in the implementation and upgrading of network hardware and software.ú Monitoring the roll-out of new software applications to ensure there are no problems.ú Troubleshooting and resolving any problems with business application software.ú Creating and overseeing protocols and procedures for the use of any new software applications.ú Managing local area networks, installing and maintaining routers, generating email addresses, and creating passwords and backups.ú Creating, executing, and maintaining company databases.ú Maintaining up-to-knowledge with the latest software developments.ú Translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications reflected in the development of applications and systems.ú Develop and implement business continuity protocols to minimize disruption to business operations (e.g. test plans).ú Manage external IT vendors and service providers and ensure timely support.ú Analyze IT infrastructure and systems performance to assess operating costs, productivity levels,ú upgrade requirements, and other metrics.ú Evaluates alternatives, perform an appropriate cost-benefit analysis and recommends solutions thatú minimize costs commensurate with acceptable risks.ú Develop security standards, procedures, and guidelines for multiple platforms.ú Responsible for internal maintenance and software license management.ú Monitors security compliance in accordance with company, policies, and procedures.ú Performs other unlisted ad-hoc, but related work assignments, as and when required.
