Job Description

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen with one of our key clients in Abu Dhabi. We are currently seeking a Payroll Officer to join their team. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure accurate and timely processing of employee entitlements, payroll, and related financial transactions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles and practices, along with a deep understanding of entitlements, benefits, and payroll regulations.In this role, you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Oversee the end-to-end payroll process for all employees in compliance with UAE labor laws, including accurate calculation of wages, deductions, allowances, and overtime. Collaborate closely with the HR team to ensure seamless onboarding and offboarding processes, including accurate setup of payroll profiles for new hires and timely processing of final settlements for departing employees.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly payroll reports, payslips, and annual tax forms to employees within designated timeframes. Coordinate with the HR department to gather and verify relevant information for payroll processing, including changes in employment status, benefits, and salary adjustments.
  • Collaborate with HR to ensure accurate and up-to-date employee records, including new hires, terminations, promotions, salary adjustments, and benefit changes in accordance with UAE labor regulations. Work closely with HR in administering employee benefits programs, ensuring accurate enrollment, and timely updates in the payroll system.
  • Ensure adherence to UAE payroll and entitlements regulations, including tax obligations, social security contributions, and benefits provisions. Partner with the HR team to conduct regular compliance audits, ensuring all payroll-related activities align with local regulations and company policies.
  • Perform regular audits of payroll data to identify discrepancies, errors, or potential issues and take corrective actions as required. Collaborate with HR and Operations teams to identify process improvements and implement best practices for efficient and accurate payroll processing.
  • Manage employee entitlements, such as annual leave, sick leave, and other paid time off, ensuring accurate tracking, reporting, and utilization according to UAE labor laws. Work with HR to develop and implement policies and procedures related to time off management, ensuring fair and consistent application across the organization.
  • Liaise with government authorities and external vendors for the timely submission of payroll-related filings, including WPS reports, social security reports, and other mandatory reports. Collaborate with HR and Legal teams to ensure accurate and timely submission of all required documentation to regulatory bodies.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in UAE labor laws and regulations related to payroll and entitlements, ensuring compliance and making necessary adjustments to processes and procedures. Provide regular training and updates to HR and Operations teams on relevant changes in labor laws and regulations affecting payroll processing.
  • Provide guidance and support to employees on payroll-related matters, including tax withholding, deductions, and other payroll inquiries. Collaborate with HR to develop and deliver employee training programs on payroll-related topics, ensuring employees have the information they need to understand and manage their compensation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate payroll and entitlements data into the general ledger and financial statements. Work closely with Finance and Operations teams to ensure accurate and timely reconciliation of payroll transactions, and provide input for financial reporting and analysis.
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects, financial analyses, and audits as assigned by the finance manager or senior leadership. Partner with HR and Operations teams on special projects related to compensation, benefits, and HR operations, leveraging expertise in payroll processes and regulations.
RequirementsIn order to be considered, you have to meet the following criteria:
  • Bachelors degree additional qualifications such CA, CPA, or related entitlements would be a plus
  • With at least 5 years of experience in an accounting role
  • Proven knowledge in computerized accounting processes/payroll systems
  • Strong knowledge of UAE labor laws, payroll regulations, and entitlements provisions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
