VP Curriculum and Assessment Lead - Charter Schools - Aldar Education - (2200007P)DescriptionAldar Education is currently seeking a VP Curriculum and Assessment Lead - Charter Schools to support our growing family of owned and operated schools in the UAE. Due to planned current and future expansion we are looking to add to our Team supporting our British, US and IB curricula network of schools.The successful candidates will be closely aligned with our core values and ethos and possess a genuine understanding and appreciation of the values of the region.Job PurposeThis role is based out of our Headquarters but located in Charter schools and involves supporting our family of schools to develop our curriculum, improve understanding and standards across grade levels, accurately assessing student achievement and progress and analysing data to improve outcomes and support the development of our schools.This role also requires a strong knowledge and experience of inclusion, Sen and ELL and an understanding of how systems in schools work to improve outcomes for students.Responsibilities:Main Duties:

  • To co-create, develop and oversee key strategies to improve curriculum design, adaption and impact across all our schools.
  • To be an advisory contact for school curriculum focal points with a strong understanding and skill set in US curriculum and assessment processes.
  • Provide staff training on curriculum and assessment matters and ensure that all curricula are operated to the highest standards
  • To support the development of future focussed curriculum models, distance learning solutions and assessments
  • To have a strong knowledge of ELL strategies, expectations and standards that support all staff being ELL teachers and facilitators.
  • To be able to support the development of ELL across the group and to monitor development of ELL provision across the group.
  • To work alongside the education, IT and technology teams in exploring, developing and rolling out whole school and group-wide virtual curriculum models
  • To act as a source of support, advice, and expertise to staff on matters of curriculum design, management and assessment.
  • Provide critical feedback and support to school leadership on curriculum matters
  • Produce curriculum materials and mapping to support schools to create consistent, appropriate grade level expectations that are aligned to the Charter approved curriculum.
  • Research latest curriculum ideas and disseminate across the group to support the upskilling of staff and the improvement of student outcomes .
  • Work closely with school leaders to support inspection preparation and outcomes related to curriculum and assessment matters
  • To gain insight, promote and improve the work of curriculum teams across the group through groups and individual meetings. Development a curriculum network to share best practice
  • Ensure that robust, reliable and standardised assessment processes exist in all of our schools.
  • Standardise and gather key data sets that enable useful analysis for school improvement.
  • Liaise closely with outside agencies and other professionals to facilitate the use of sound assessment and data platforms.
  • Provide support to school-based middle and senior leaders, including the Principals to:
  • identify best practice in curriculum, assessment and data analysis.
  • develop and maintain accurate data records that allow analysis of trends that can impact and improve curriculum
  • review school assessment data and methods to identify priority areas for school improvement.
  • monitor the quality and accuracy of assessment tools across the group
  • manage compliance with ADEK and other such authorities as this relates to mandatory assessments.
  • Undertake other duties from time to time as Aldar Charter Education may require in relation to this role.
Specific Duties:
  • To support schools in the areas of curriculum and assessment
  • To create consistent grade level expectations and assessment processes across school
  • To ensure strong understanding of curriculum and assessment across our schools
  • To support distributed responsibility in Middle leaders across our schools and to ensure this leadership level are strong in curriculum and assessment knowledge.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor?s degree in Education or bachelor?s degree;
    • If from an education background: Postgraduate qualifications in teaching (eg. PGCE)
    • Non-educators: bachelor?s degree in a related subject (eg. Maths, statistics).
Minimum Experience:
  • At least 2 years senior or middle leadership responsibility in curriculum and/or assessment.
  • At least 2 years experience as a middle or senior leader in a school setting

  • The ability to impart the Charter vision, aims and goals in a manor that inspires, encourages and nurtures staff, leaders and students.
  • The ability to communicate ideas, messages and instructions to schools in a way that will coach, mentor and improve outcomes.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in American curriculums and assessment expectations
  • Strong knowledge in MAP testing
  • Strong knowledge in school improvement systems, processes and strategies to support an improvement in student outcomes.
