To provide comprehensive veterinary care to the SeaWorld Abu Dhabi (SWAD) animal population (mammals, fish, reptiles, birds, and invertebrates) as well as providing support for the affiliated regional marine life rescue and rehabilitation program.The post holder is integral to the maintenance of SeaWorld?s high animal welfare standards and to the advancement of the field and science of marine animal health. This role will assist and participate in the animal welfare program and play an active role in research opportunities at SWAD.JOB SCOPEAssists with veterinary treatments and procedures for all aspects of SeaWorld Abu Dhabi?s collection as directed by VeterinariansCoordinates medical procedures, treatment, routine husbandry behavioral scheduling and other protocols as directed by the leadership teamsMaintains and cleans the medical areas, surgical room and equipmentPerforms pharmaceutical and medical supplies inventories and updates the tracker accordinglyParticipates in the medical care of rescued wildlife including but not limited to dugongs, birds, sea turtles, andcetaceansAssists with anesthetic procedures, radiology procedures, collection of veterinary samples, and preparation of samples for diagnostic testingConsults and educates the animal colleagues, leadership teams and occasionally guests, in areas of health, welfare, and husbandryAssists with animal health research projects and prepares data results for presentations and peer-reviewed publicationsAssists in maintaining all animal recordsAssists in the field for rescues, health assessments and field research with various species when requiredWorks in varying shifts/hours based on business need, to include opening, mid-, and closing shifts; weekends, and holidaysLifts, carries, pushes, pulls up to 50 lbs / 20kg on occasion; extensive walking or standing indoors or outdoors; tasks that involve repetitive motions such as bending, stooping, or liftingPerforms other duties as assignedJOB ESSENTIALSDiploma in a related field or equivalentAbility to obtain a license or certification for veterinary technician in the UAE as requiredAt least 2-3 years of proven experience in a veterinary hospital as a veterinary technician.Excellent English communication skills and teamwork abilitiesAbility to be flexible and adapt quickly as the needs of the animal collection developKnowledge in current computer application, including in MS OfficeBasic mathematical skillsJOB DESIRABLESFamiliar with professional zoo/aquarium communities and non-domestic speciesPrevious experience with data entry, various hematology and reproductive analyzers and equipment maintenance schedules
