Job SummaryThe SP&A Team provides a full range of traffic and transportation planning services and is a key component in the Civil Infrastructure Business Line. Our Vision is to be the most recognized and trusted provider of transportation planning services to our clients in the Middle East. We envisage being the Middle East Centre of Excellence in all aspects of transport planning, but particularly in multi-modal transport master planning and transport modelling. This position is responsible for providing technical support in a variety of these service offerings, including Multi-Modal Transport Modelling, Transport Master Planning, Traffic Engineering and Traffic Impact Assessments. The candidate is expected to take on increasingly more complex transport planning tasks and to work with minimum supervision when carrying out tasks.Job DutiesThe duties of the Transport Planner fall primarily under the category of Technical Support. Key duties are as follows.Technical Support

• Contribute to successful project completion by providing technical services in accordance with project time, quality and cost objectives as agreed with the Project Manager
• Maintain, enhance and apply both transport modelling and planning knowledge
• Continuously improve technical and industry knowledge by participating in forums and other industry related programs
• Research, analyse and report on a range of quantitative and qualitative transport modelling and planning related projects
• Assist in the preparation of tender submissions
• Act as a Deputy Project Manager, as necessary
• Develop detailed methodologies together with task leaders
• Provide input to technical note and study report
• Undertake data recording and analysis tasks
• Undertake modelling and analysis tasks
• Review internal processes for effectiveness and efficiency and suggest possible areas for improvement where necessary
• Other duties as required

Minimum RequirementsThe candidate should have:

• Good understanding of the underlying principles of transport planning and modelling , sufficient to carry out and support transport modelling and planning studies
• Good mathematical background, and ability to handle large data sets with experience in using statistical tools and database software packages such as ACCESS and SPSS will be an advantage
• Working knowledge of GIS packages such as ArcGIS and MapInfo will be an advantage
• Working knowledge of Scripting software such as Visual Basic VBA and Python will be an advantage
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation beneficial, but not mandatory
• Very good technical writing skills
• Good understanding of Project Management techniques and
• Good understanding of a Project Delivery System (PDS), particularly regarding the requirements for the technical delivery of services and the Quality Assurance/Control process and procedures

Person Specification:This position is oriented predominantly towards technical delivery. The candidate is expected to work closely with his/her line manager, project managers, and other team members in a cooperative and productive manner. As such he/she should demonstrate:

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree Level Qualification or higher in a related field (mandatory)
• Masters Degree (beneficial)
• Professional Accreditation
• Eligibility for Chartership/certification/license from a recognized professional body (e.g. P.E., P.Eng., C.Eng., ILT etc.) preferred

Additional Comments

• The candidate should be able to travel locally within the UAE, and regionally to neighboring countries
• Arabic language skills (reading, writing, and spoken) are an asset
