The National Space Science and Technology Center (NSSTC) at UAE University is seeking a highly skilled Command and Data Handling Firmware Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing firmware for embedded systems that handle command and data transmission in a spacecraft or other specialized vehicles. You will be a key member of our development team, working alongside other engineers, scientists, and project managers to ensure successful mission execution. Minimum Qualification . Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field. . Prior experience in software or firmware development for embedded systems is highly desirable. . Strong experience in C/C++ programming language. . Prior experience with microcontrollers such as STM32, ATMEL etc. . Knowledge of real-time operating systems (RTOS) and digital signal processing (DSP). . Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment. . Excellent verbal and written communication skills. . The role requires the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team that will be engaged in the design and development of CubeSats and Small Spacecrafts. . The ability to work with students at UAE University as a mentor is required. Preferred Qualification . Design and implement firmware for command and data handling systems on spacecraft, satellites, and other specialized vehicles. . Develop and maintain software code for real-time, embedded systems to ensure reliability and efficiency of command and data transmission. . Collaborate with other teams to understand system requirements and develop software and hardware solutions that meet those needs. . Develop, test, and validate software and firmware using industry-standard testing tools and methods. . Conduct system-level testing and verification to ensure the integrity and accuracy of the data being transmitted and received. . Provide technical support to other team members and stakeholders during the mission lifecycle Model, estimate and measure the performance of the embedded software and estimate task completion time as well as required resources in terms of memory and processing performance to meet the required objectives.
