Job Title: Senior Officer- PR and Communications Posted 125 days ago Job Summary:The Senior Officer- PR and Communication will Plan, develop, implement, and directs an effective strategic communications, public relations, and external relations activities for the university that increases public awareness and support of its programs, services, and activities, and enhances the image and reputation of the university.This role will oversee the writing and editing of event scripts, shareholder documents and reports, copy writing of promotional materials, press releases, media interviews, marketing contents and any other external communications.General information about institutionThe American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) is an independent co-education institution of Higher Education that provides an integrated American-style, undergraduate and graduate education. The beauty of Ras Al Khaimah is reflected in its traditions and diverse landscapes ? its white sandy beaches, the majestic Hajjar Mountains, the expansive desert and its sands dunes, and the many historical sites.Job Purpose & Responsibilities The Senior Officer- PR and Communication will Plan, develop, implement, and directs an effective strategic communications, public relations, and external relations activities for the university that increases public awareness and support of its programs, services, and activities, and enhances the image and reputation of the university.This role will oversee the writing and editing of event scripts, shareholder documents and reports, copy writing of promotional materials, press releases, media interviews, marketing contents and any other external communications.Minimum Qualification and EducationBachelor?s degree in a relevant discipline including marketing, communications or business is desirable but not essential.Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Clearly and concisely present and explain technical information, verbally and in writing in plain language, to audiences with varying levels of understanding and information needs.
  • Independently plan, organize and prioritize multiple projects and tasks to meet departmental and organizational deadlines and goals.
  • Work with media and internal stakeholders to provide timely, accurate, informed and contextual responses to queries.
  • Be a flexible and active team player.
  • Strive to achieve best outcomes in a collaborative work environment.
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external clients by putting them at ease, responding courteously, and providing solid advice and consultation.
  • Analyze large volumes of complex information and create proactive communication plans and strategies.
  • Apply understanding of the communications industry to help provide advice in planning.
  • Apply understanding of AURAKs news media landscape to inform both reactive and proactive media relations.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with media and other stakeholder contacts and network.
Work Experience
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in the field of communications, media relations, journalism or government relations in the UAE.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience working with government, corporate, agencies, and ministries with established industry contacts and network.
  • Experience in issues communications management.
  • Experience working in media relations or journalism is a Must.
  • AURAK will consider an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language proficiency requiredEssential: Effective oral and written communication in English (Native English speakers preferred for this role)Competencies
