Why join us? We are hiring!The Senior Electrical Designer to be an integral part of our team. This position is based out of Orlando, Tampa Bay or Miami, FL. Atkins has the depth and breadth of expertise to respond to the most technically challenging and time-critical infrastructure projects and the urgent transition to a low-carbon economy.How will you contribute to the team?Applies standard engineering practices and techniques in specific situations which may include the following:

  • Assists in the planning, design, and production of engineering drawings. May supervise the production of these drawings. Carries out specific assignments in preparing and assembling specifications.
  • Participates in conducting engineering investigations and planning work by completing well-defined tasks. These tasks may include collection and analysis of data using established procedures, performance of routine calculations, and participation in evaluating the feasibility of alternate solutions.
  • Prepares assigned sections of reports working under the close review of a more experienced professional.
  • Participates on projects involving construction activities by reviewing shop drawings for conformance with easily interpreted specifications; assists in recordkeeping and in generating progress reports.
  • Consults with senior engineers and other senior designers concerning unusual problems and developments.
  • Assist in field investigation to validate existing project conditions.
  • Prepares detailed drawings of engineering designs and plans for buildings and structures. This includes lighting layouts, layouts of electrical rooms, receptacle layouts, low voltage systems device layouts.
  • Assist with lighting calculations and control scheme for normal and emergency lighting.
  • Coordinates activities with other team members and assists in production as needed to meet schedules.
  • Performs such other duties from time to time deem necessary by supervisor.
What will you contribute?
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the production of electrical design documents
  • Expert in Revit, minimum of 5 years of experience using software as the primary tool to produce electrical design documents
  • Knowledge in SKM Power Tools calculation software preferred.
  • Knowledge in ElumTools lighting calculation software preferred.
  • 4 year college degree in electrical engineering or architectural engineering is also sought after, but not required
  • Proficient in Revit, ElumTools or AGI32, SKM, Bluebeam.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70, NFPA 101, NFPA 780, NFPA 72.
