As a member of an agile team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our data security and privacy-centric services. These services are responsible for the end-to-end security of customer, partner, and colleague data within Careems infrastructure and services. You will be expected to drive constant innovation on the ground in a dynamic environment experiencing exciting hyper growth across geographies and verticals. As well as working independently, you will also be responsible for making technical decisions and working with the team, the wider security department and wider technology division to implement and help implement the security principles around data protection and privacy protection.As a senior engineer, the role will be expected to role model behaviors that can be emulated by others in the team. The individual will help other (junior) members of the team grow technically and help them hone their craft.The individual will work closely with our Infrastructure, Product Engineering, IT, Legal and Compliance teams to build secure, robust, and scalable data security solutions. We take the trust that our customers, partners, and colleagues put in us very seriously and our data security services need to measure up to this expectation and you will be a key part in this.What youll do

• Develop data security solutions for cloud production platforms in the data security domain;
• Gather requirements and use cases, and implement engineering solutions for data security operations;
• Maintaining the current existing enterprise data security platforms, services and systems;
• Help design new solutions to handle data discovery, classification and segregation;
• Integrating and deploying third party services in this space;
• Work in close collaboration with other Security Engineers and Developers in the company;
• Be an advocate of data security engineering best practices;
• Design, build and optimise detective, preventive controls and automated response solutions;
• Provide Data Security guidance to the tech organisation;
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
• Mentor the junior members of the team to ensure they grow

What youll need

• You have an extensive and deep practical understanding of data security concepts and implementation-level details including building SDKs, libraries, APIs;
• At least 7 years of hands-on experience in data security, privacy protection and/or related security fields;
• Ability to work in an agile environment with with high expectations
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Management Systems or a related field/experience is required;
• You have a can do attitude and you are more proactive than reactive;
• Excellent communication skills
• You are passionate about automation and toil reduction.
• Extensive knowledge and experience with security systems integration in large scale environments, containerized environments, and public clouds;
• Experience with security systems integration, mainly Data Leakage Prevention platforms (Google Workspace DLP, ZScaler DLP and others);
• Working with systems to discover, classify and protect access to critical business and PII data (e.g. BigID, OneTrust etc.);
• Proven expertise in working across the organisation in challenging, steering, and implementing future vision and roadmap for data protection and security;
• Working across technology and production engineering teams to drive adoption of data security practices and design level thinking;
• Role modelling and mentoring junior engineers in the area of data and system security engineering;
• Experience working with APIs for systems integration;
• Experience in managing data security in cloud based/ SaaS platforms;
• Mentoring junior members of team to grow their technical skills;
• Plus: Knowledge of container infrastructure (Kubernetes and Docker);
• Plus: Experience with database systems and distributed systems;
• Plus: Working in a hyper growth e-commerce environment

Where youll be

• This role is part of a remote distributed team! This means you can be based in any of the countries where we currently have an engineering site. If you would like to join us in Dubai, Berlin, Ukraine, Russia, Poland, Pakistan, Egypt, Lebanon or Jordan, thats fine with us (Visa permitting)!
• Even though we are working remotely, we are strong believers in collaboration and the power of building social connections with our teams. For that reason, our offices are still open and provide plenty of collaboration-friendly spaces at times when teams need it or if you need a quiet space to work outside of home.
• Youll be working in the location youre hired from. Due to legal and compensation considerations, you will need to be based out of the country youre hired from as your primary work location
