Job Description

Overview / ResponsibilitiesWood is currently recruiting for a Senior Commercial Advisor / Principal Estimator with extensive experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry.As a result of continued growth Wood have an exciting role based in the United Arab Emirates. This position involved the preparation, coordination, and negotiation of tenders, including estimating, pricing, pre contract commercial management and risk analysis.This role presents an opportunity for the right individual to become tendering focal point for this rapidly expanding Middle East region, including Qatar, Kuwait, Iraq and UAEKey Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of tenders and pre-contract commercial activities in accordance with the wood tender governance procedures
  • Prepare accurate estimates with due regard to competitor, supply chain and local market trends
  • Development of winning bid documentation for submission to customers
  • Identify risk items and measures to mitigate the risk
  • Assist in the negotiation of terms and conditions of tenders with customers to achieve the best commercial and contractual position.
  • Liaison with all key functions including Engineering, Tax, Global Mobility, Insurance, Legal, treasury and legal to ensure proposals are aligned with wood strategies and tender governance.
  • Assist in ensuring that the approval process is followed and that all necessary approvals are obtained.
  • Ensure rate build ups and prices included within the final tender submissions are accurate, complete and are prepared on time to meet deadlines.
  • Support in pre-tender client engagements to influence commercial strategy and prepare pricing methodology
  • Review tender and contract documentation, identifying risks and promote suitable commercial mitigation strategies
  • Assist with the effective handover of commercial matters from pre-contract to post contract phase of projects.
  • Develop new commercial models, as required including incentive schemes and KPIs.
  • Liaison with various internal customers (Contract/Project Managers, Engineers) in all areas of commercial management.
Skills / QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
  • Skills typically acquired through completion of an undergraduate degree in business administration, commerce, quantity surveying, or similar discipline. 5 years experience in a similar role
Minimum Experience:
  • In addition to an undergraduate degree, the individual should have extensive work experience in the O&G industry or similar which would demonstrate exposure to Tendering, key contracting concepts and commercial risk management
  • Previous experience of working to tight deadlines without compromising on quality of proposal deliverables.
Job-Specific Skills:
  • Strong estimating skills and highly competent n MS Office suite of packages
  • High numeracy with strong commercial acumen and ideally experience in a variety of commercial contracting models and risk profiles, Lump Sum / Fixed Price / Target price / Reimbursable
  • Considerable experience in drafting and interpretation of commercial documentation.
