Job Description

Overview / ResponsibilitiesWood is seeking applications from Senior Civil & Structural Designer to strengthen our team in Dubai.This is a Home Office position based in Dubai, but it may involve occasional visits to the Client offices and/or site in Iraq. Normal working time will be 48 hours per week (9.6 hours per day).The Role:

  • Executing assigned scopes of work.
  • Supporting and supervising task delegation to team.
  • Providing discipline support to the business
  • Provides coaching and mentoring for direct reports.
  • Supervision of Designers. Provides input to the performance management of direct reports.
  • Manages performance of direct reports.
  • Adhere to and comply with relevant discipline specific procedures and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Monitor compliance with competence standards.
  • Participate in incident investigations as required
  • Interact with multi-discipline Engineering teams.
  • Executing assigned personal objectives.
  • Continue to develop team working & communication skills.
  • Perform surveys and answer site queries.
  • Showing an enthusiasm to learn.
  • Attend meetings as and when required.
  • Review and check the work of designer.
  • Ensure work is completed on Schedule and within budget
Subject Matter Expertise:
  • Technically competent in own discipline and actively maintains own competence according to standards and pursues continuous professional development.
  • Provide discipline support to the business.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory framework and legislation.
  • Proficient in scope definition.
Skills / QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
  • Diploma and relevant experience in Civil/Structural Engineering.
  • Membership of a recognised professional institute is preferred
Minimum Experience
  • Minimum of 12 years relevant experience in the oil and gas/petrochemical industries
  • Previous experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantage.
  • Proficient in design of steel structures and foundation
  • Intellectually capable, can substantiate the ability to apply theory in a practical context.
  • Professional demeanor, interpersonal skills.
  • Able to demonstrate team working skills.
  • Enthusiastic, conscientious and keen to learn.
  • Flexible with a can-do attitude.
  • Experience in brownfield jobs and FEED jobs
