Job Description

We are looking for a Regional HSE Director for Mena Region to be based in UAE or KSA.Reporting to the SVP Global Health, Safety and Environment, the MEA HSE Regional Director will have overall responsibility for health, safety and environment for all SNC-Lavalin Group in Middle East and Africa.It is expected that the Health, Safety and Environment Regional Director will develop into an acknowledged leader in his/her field, fostering an active health / safety / environment community that enhances our reputation for technical excellence by supporting innovation and cross-business collaboration, defining best practice, and championing new approaches.As well as being an acknowledged HSE leader at an operational level, the Regional Director will exhibit statesmanship, meaning that he/she will actively engage with internal and external stakeholders at the highest levels and be recognized as a significant authority. External engagements will include high level negotiation and issue resolution with client and other stakeholder entities, technical authority public speaking engagements and membership of /attendance at strategic working groups.Key responsibilities

  • Support the businesses within the region to ensure a centralized ?one company? HSE processes and standards roll out.
  • Ensure that all SNC-Lavalin Sites are fully compliant with client requirements, current corporate standards and regulations and laws governing the jurisdiction in which the Site is located.
  • Oversee the implementation of the GHSEMS at the Sector level, supporting the ?one company? approach.
  • Ensure all internal and external stakeholders are promptly informed of all HSE related issues (e.g. regulations, progress, compliance, violations, etc.) affecting their Sector.
  • Collect BUs information pertaining to Sector?s Management Review.
  • Participate in the annual review of the GHSEMS as the Sector representative.
  • Involved in Incident Investigations, supporting projects through out to ensure that root causes have been identified and corrective actions are being taken
  • Support with prequalification, bids, recruitment, mobilization, training and career development within the HSE function
  • Align with Global HSE and roll out HSE initiatives
  • Visit Projects and team to understand and assess all challenges related to HSE
  • Build the HSE community with the Region and ensure that the teams get the required support and share lessons learned and expertise within the broader HSE community
  • Participate in Global HSE steering committees for Blue Book revision, digitalization, HSE Week, HSE initiatives and HSE transformation
  • Work closely with Regional HSE business leaders to develop and implement the HSE strategy for the region
Qualifications and Requirement
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Engineering & Construction health, safety and environment
  • Qualified NEBOSH Diploma level, or equivalent, having chartered membership of IOSH or similar.
  • Excellent leadership skills including people skills, stakeholder?s management and communication.
  • Candidates should possess sound technical skills in Engineering & Construction health, safety and environment and be excellent communicators at all levels.
