Database, you are end-to-end responsible for all our database solutions. Your role will involve strategic planning, functional team leadership, and cross-functional collaboration to drive operational excellence and innovation.Key focus areas include:Optimizing the database landscapeAdopting a hybrid model of traditional and cloud databasesEvolving the product offering in line with developer requirementsYou will define a multi-year product vision that maximizes current and future business value across the organization. By maintaining and prioritizing a product backlog, you will incrementally turn this vision into reality.Working with an interdisciplinary team of technical experts and customer representatives, you will ensure that new product releases deliver value on time, on cost, and on quality. Your deep understanding of technology and industry trends, along with strong stakeholder relationships, will ensure that the team?s efforts remain aligned with EGA?s overall vision.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:Database Management & StrategyLead the strategic planning and execution of database installations, configurations, and maintenance.Ensure optimal performance, high availability, and robust security of database systems.Oversee performance monitoring, change management, and applying patches and upgrades.Develop and enforce comprehensive database standards, policies, and best practices.Guide data modeling and advanced database design to support organizational objectives.Leadership & Team ManagementLead, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of database administrators (DBAs).Conduct regular performance reviews and manage team dynamics for high productivity and engagement.Foster strong collaboration between software developers, network administrators, and IT professionals.Advocate for database needs and priorities within the broader IT and business strategy.Compliance & SecurityEnsure databases comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.Lead regular security audits, risk assessments, and mitigation strategies.Disaster Recovery & Business ContinuityDevelop, implement, and oversee comprehensive database backup and recovery strategies.Ensure the organization has effective disaster recovery plans and business continuity processes in place.Lead regular testing and validation of recovery plans to ensure data protection and rapid restoration.Agile Product Ownership & DeliveryEnsure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with business goals.Provide strategic direction for agile delivery, overseeing backlog grooming, sprint planning, and release management.Relentlessly prioritize and align with business and IT stakeholders to maximize value delivery.Work with design teams to deliver top user experience (UX) and user interface (UI).AUTHORITY / DECISION-MAKING:Develop and manage the database management budget.Approve and enforce database-related policies, procedures, and standards.Make key decisions that impact the department, referring major approvals to the reporting manager.Exercise financial authority as per the company board?s authority matrix.QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor?s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (accredited by UAE authorities).Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Oracle DBA, Microsoft Certified Database Administrator) is a plus.Minimum Experience:Proven experience as a Database Manager or similar role.Extensive experience with database management systems (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL).Experience managing a team of DBAs.Strong experience in leading agile projects as a Product Owner or Scrum Master.Formal project management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, Agile Project Management) is preferred.Proven ability to plan ahead, surface risks, and track analytics effectively.Experience grooming product backlogs, writing user stories, and defining acceptance criteria.Strong communication and stakeholder management skills to influence business and IT executives.Ability to move between strategic discussions and hands-on agile coaching.Experience working with third-party vendors, consultants, and external stakeholders.Strong planning, control, and change management expertise.Experience delivering advanced analytics, automation, and digital transformation projects is a plus.SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:Technical Skills:Strong understanding of database structure, theories, principles, and best practices.Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.Strong leadership and team management abilities.Agile & Digital Experience:Hands-on experience in facilitating agile ceremonies (e.g., backlog grooming, sprint planning, burndown tracking).Deep experience leading agile teams and ensuring high-value product delivery.Proficiency in tracking release plans, team metrics, and removing blockers.Individual & Soft Skills:Strong collaborator, team player, and leader.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with confidence in engaging senior stakeholders.Strong problem solver, capable of leading teams to push solutions forward.Mindset & Behaviours:Passionate about innovation, challenging the status quo, and driving out-of-the-box ideas.Believes in a non-hierarchical culture of collaboration, transparency, and trust.Willing to go outside comfort zones, learning from failures, and pushing teams to do the same.Empowers others to take ownership and grow within their roles.Adopts an experimental mindset to drive continuous improvement and innovation.You will be redirected to the company website to apply for this position
