Job Description

Job purposeThisLibrarian is responsible tomanage information and resources and help people locate and utilize information.Qualifications & Education

  • Bachelor Degree inLibrary and Information Science.
Experience
  • 3 years of experience as Librarian.
  • 4 years of experience inHigher Education institution preferable
Skills / Training / Knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to tactfully and politely deal with difficult customer situations
  • Bilingual (Arabic & English), Arab native is preffered.
Major Tasks Involved:
  • Perform standard Cataloguing using AACR-II for the bibliographic entries
  • Perform Classification using LC & AUC for the print and electronic resources as established
  • Payment process - prepare reports for the payment of invoices
  • Subscription Control ? Keep track of journal subscription details including renewal, updates, and customization
  • Overdue reminders ? Send overdue reminders and make sure the items
  • Ensure efficient retrieval of information by users
  • Supervising the stock arrangements & circulation control
  • Attend reference queries
  • Train library users to effectively search the Library catalogue, Internet and other electronic resources
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities related to the technical services as needed to accomplish the tasks as required.
Technical Processing
  • Receiving documents and updating records.
  • Accessioning of documents.
  • Invoice processing (Entry of Acc.No. in Invoice copy, Acc. Register and Systems).
  • Cataloguing of documents in the systems.
  • Inventory Control - Ensure an accurate inventory of resources
General Task
  • Orientation ? Train Library users to find the resource and use them effectively
  • Attending Ciculation Counter
  • Inventory Control - Ensure an accurate inventory of resources
  • Stock verification ? Perform stock verification when required
  • Shelf reading ? Supervising the shelving arrangements
