Lead Machine Learning Engineer

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Machine Learning Engineer Tech Lead to join the Machine Learning team at Bayut & dubizzle.You will be responsible for the technical architecture and complex cross functional project. Acting as a strategic advisor to product and the commercial departments, you will spearhead data science projects to drive value and impact across the organisation.You will deploy and operate cutting edge Machine Learning-powered data services and data products. The ML team create and maintains a portfolio of Machine Learning models covering a broad range of product and business use cases including pricing, fraud detection, content quality augmentation, content personalisation, recommender systems, content classification, price transparency & valuation, image recognition and others.You will be responsible for the end-to-end Data Science cycle including data preparation, data labelling, feature extraction & engineering, model training and evaluation, model deployment, and post-launch model experimentation and analytics.You will collaborate with other full-stack Machine Learning engineers and work closely to other teams such as BI & Data Engineering and Analytics.In this role, you will:

• Spend up to 30% on design of projects, architecture, processes, spend the rest on adding value by directly contributing to projects
• Take initiatives, influence the ML roadmap and help selling the value of ML projects by ensuring success is tracked with agreed business KPI and A/B testing
• Draw and maintain the big picture of the ML technical stack and research new technologies and pitch them to the team
• Actively scout the market for solution to problems solved with ML
• Set the right level of expectation with Stakeholders and deliver within agreed timeline on complex projects
• Own your PPP summary report for the department head
• Communicate clear expectations and proactively reach out to stakeholder if any deadline is going to be missed proposing a new timeline
• Deploy ML models into production that work as standalone data services.
• Accountable for Data Privacy and Security (including organising credentials in Lastpass)
• Real-time data pipelines using server less and managed AWS services such as Lambda, Kinesis, API Gateway, etc.
• Accountable for having at all times at least two team members which have knowledge of critical components at all time
• ML stack stability Environment Stability, setting KPI for the team and evaluating performances based on results
• Responsible for data quality and timely delivery of ML models that make common business sense
• Produce and maintain project decks which includes $, KPIs, ROI, data model design, team, architecture, alerts, master scheduling, quality checks, timeline etc.. for any major work request (typically more than a week) and have them added to the Data Roadmap for prioritisation
• Ensure project design is reviewed and approved by peers or the manager before any code is written (API request/response to be signed off during design phase before code implementation)
• Continually research current and emerging technologies and proposing changes where needed
• Lead demonstrating technical excellence being a role model for other team members
• Participate in the off-hours on call stability rota to support live ML models
• Communicate expectations and proactively reach out to stakeholder if any deadline is going to be missed proposing a new timeline
