Job Scope:Assists with veterinary laboratory and procedures for all aspects of SeaWorld Abu Dhabi’s collection as directed by veterinarians and leadership which include analyses of hematology, chemistry, microbiology, mycology, parasitology, urinalysis, cytology and water chemistryCalculates and does analysis of the laboratory tests results, documents and logs the dataCreates reports for laboratory files and colleagues’ reference for various research projectsAssists with maintenance schedule for laboratory medical equipment, inventory of testing material and components, sanitation of laboratory area in accordance with leadership directionParticipates in the medical care of rescued wildlife including but not limited to dugongs, birds, sea turtles, and cetaceansPrepares samples for diagnostic testing and ancillary testingConsults and educates the zoological colleagues, leadership teams and occasionally guests in areas of health, welfare, and husbandryAssists with animal health research projects and prepares data results for presentations and peer-reviewed publicationsMaintains cleanliness and organization of the workplaceAssists in health assessments and possible field research with various speciesWorks in varying shifts/hours based on business need, to include opening, mid-, and closing shifts, weekends, and holidaysLifts, carries, pushes, pulls up to 50 lbs / 20kg on occasion; extensive walking or standing indoors or outdoors; tasks that involve repetitive motions such as bending, stooping, or liftingPerforms other duties as assignedTo be considered for the role, you will need to have:Job Essentials:Diploma/Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology; in a related field or equivalentAbility to obtain a license or certification for veterinary laboratory technician in the UAE as requiredAt least 2 years of proven experience in a laboratory setting as a medical technologist.Excellent English communication skills and teamwork abilitiesAbility to be flexible and adapt quickly as the needs of the animal collection developKnowledge in current laboratory equipment and technologiesKnowledge in current computer application, including MS OfficeBasic mathematical skillsJob Desirables:Board eligibility, Member or Diplomat status of a recognized Veterinary statutory/ professional bodyFamiliar with professional zoo/aquarium communities and non-domestic speciesPrevious experience with data entry, various hematology and reproductive analyzers and equipment maintenance schedulesYou will be redirected to the company website to apply for this position
