Pluto aims to serve a multi-regional base of customers, including UAE, Saudi Arabia and many other MENA countries. As Pluto expands its Fintech offerings, it brings a lot of legal, regulatory & compliance requirements that we must adhere to.As the first member of our Compliance team, you?ll be responsible for providing direction to your product development and business peers throughout the company on matters of legal interpretation. A successful person in this role would proactively seek to enable Pluto?s business across regions and various product features by helping us navigate any legal, regulatory or compliance requirements.Outside of the pro-active role of enablement, you will also be involved in other aspects of legal interpretation, including reviewing partner contracts, regulations, network rules, customer or third party communications, or corporate contracts such as NDAs. You may also work with team members to draft new legal agreements.Over time you will become a subject matter expert on Pluto?s legal obligations at a high-level, and help ensure that the process of meeting those obligations is a safe system. In the future, this may involve leading a team across multiple regions.Your responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel and guidance to our product, engineering, partnerships & business teams on legal, compliance or regulatory issues related to Pluto?s business.

• Conduct legal research into high-value topics identifying legal/licensing requirements and risks, and recommending ways to address them within the context of Pluto?s business and product objectives

• Participate as a proactive business partner to Pluto?s team members and build a trusted advisor relationship

• Occasionally represent Pluto in discussions with third parties, including partners, examiners, regulators, law enforcement agencies and other external audiences

• Manage outside counsel where appropriate, and provide credible challenges to their opinions

• Advise on and oversee the legal aspects of corporate agreements between Pluto, its customers, affiliates, and third parties

• Collaborate with internal partners to create innovative and compliant marketing materials

• Create and enforce compliance procedures for onboarding new customers, in partnership with financial partners
• Establish client activity oversight and monitoring systems, in accordance with relevant AML policies and guidelines
• Conduct ad-hoc compliance training

• Perform risk assessments and advise the team on suitable measures

• Escalate risks and issues, as identified.
• Assist with audits and investigations as needed.
